Depending on the size of the tank, the taller one would be better for the Angels if it's a smaller tank, just due to their taller bodies. If it's a larger tank, it's probably fairly deep compared to a smaller one, so it really wouldn't be an issue there.

I had a 40 foot hex aquarium years ago and my angelfish did fine. I moved out of state though and gave my neighbor the tank and fish. They did wonderfully in there and I had them for quite a few years.

Hard to say without knowing the dimensions of the tanks your talking about and how large the angelfish in question grow.

A tall tank would always be better fir fish like angels and batfish *saltwater fish* Since their bodies are so tall they tend to prefer taller tanks. They will also grow better and be less stressed in taller tanks.

Normal aquariums tend to be better for most fish, because theres more surface area for oxygen to enter the water.
