We have about 40 freshwater fish in a three foot tank and we feed them flake and a red gritty food that normally sinks. Our fish are no bigger then an inch long except for our two black knife fish. We normally give them about a teaspoon of each a day, is this to much?

I've had my aquarium for about 6 months now, its a 45-50g aquarium which is a FOWLR set up. The inhabitants include a pair of false clowns, a canary wrasse, scooter blenny (fat off of brine shrimp), a brown clown goby, and a green spotted puffer. Poor puffer, his growth is stunted from his previous 10g tank so he's just a bit bigger than the female clown. I reaaaaaaally want a dwarf angelfish (cherub preferably) and want to make sure I'm not pushing the limits of my tank.

However! I do have a really wonderful skimmer (gets full after 3 days), a biowheel filter, and a homemade sump in the works for all those lovely pods and added filtration. I wish I just had $100k to dedicate to fish, however... life sucks! Doesn't work that way. I'm pretty sure a Dwarf Angel would be fine, if I got one thats roughly 2" max. Opinions? I'm stricken with "I WANT ALL OF THEM" sickness, I suppose!

I have an African Albino Clawed Frog and I want to feed it guppies. But the pet store in my town only sells fancy guppies. Is there anywhere online that I can buy feeder guppies? I tried looking on Ebay and all it found were fancy guppies. My local Walmart has a bad problem with trying to control ick in their tanks, so I don't want to risk getting my frog sick. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks!

I know they need food. But is there any way to make sure they're taken care of if I need to spend two nights away from my room? I'm a college student living in a single room, so I can't ask anyone to take care of it.

How much shoudl I feed my pleco? There isn't any algae left on the tank so I've been feeding him Hikari Algae Wafers. He's only about 3 inches long, so how much should I be feeding him? I don't ever get to watch him eat so I never know how long it takes him to eat in order to judge by what the package says and I'm afraid I might be under-feeding him. Going by what I'd heard about fishes stomachs being only about as big as their eye, I'd only been feeding him half a wafer, but is that even true? How much should I feed him? The wafers are about an inch in diameter and about 2mm thick at the most.

We just set up our saltwater aqarium and only have damsels in it now. We are hoping to set it up like the Nemo tank. I know there is a tang, clownfish and a balloon puffer, but what were the other ones?

I know starchy stuff like the cheap flakes they sell in pet stores are bad. I'm also going away on vacation for 9 days and the auto feeder releases too much and they don't seem to sell those dissolvable things for just one fish (I did see them for 1-3 betta fish, but is that bad for a gold fish? It seemed like the same ingredients). I'm checking in stores tomorrow, so far I only looked online but the small independent pet stores don't have websites so hopefully I can find something good for those 9 days. BUT what is also a good food for the little guy? He's been having swimming issues - can't stay upright, can't control what level he is in the water, remains sideways at the top. But then sometimes he is perfectly fine. I'm going to get peas tomorrow to see if that helps, hopefully it isn't an infection :( Right now I feed him Tetra goldfish crisps, I don't like them.

I just bought a 55 gallon salt water fish tank, I'm now letting it cycle but the temperature of the tank water seems a little high it's at 81 degrees. I'm just wondering when you need to get a chiller, or will my water temperature decrease after time.

Hi,
Today the female betta lay her eggs and I take her out. And leave the male inside. It seems to me that the male is eating the eggs. Is it okay for me to leave the male in there or should I take it out ? Will the eggs hatched without the male ? Thanks

I have two questions actually:
1. When adding a shrimp in an aquarium, does it count like adding a fish? I mean like in nitrate and fish stock issues.
2. Can over-filtration actually harm fishes? I have a Jewel 120 litres aquarium with a big filter which was already placed there, but since I had to move my fishes in it I was told to use my previous filter too (from a 50 litres one) in order to help the filter bacterial culture grow. I havent removed it since then, and my nitrate levels are always zero, so I feel a bit reluctant to remove it. Any advice?? Thanks

My betta fish is acting really weird. Lately he has been hanging out upside down. What's wrong with him? He still moves but he won't swim up no more I touch him and it seems as if he was dead and obiously he breaths but he won't swim up no more and i tried feeding him the food to it's mouth but he won't open his mouth so if anyone knows what can be wrong with him I'd appriciate it if someone can tell me. P.S. I've had him since 2003 and he was a young one when I bought him.
