a few cory cats, maybe a small school of tetras, personally I like emperor tetras, but that's just me.

I agree with Myranda.. Mollies, Swordtails, other guppies although be carefull with the Female bettas. they usually don't but can get mean..
I would strictly keep live bearers with each other.. Although any docile fish will do fine.. No Tiger barbs, had a bad experience with them.
as for asking the sales rep. half the time they don't know much about anything.. Just w/e it says on the manuals. ALWAYS do online research before hand. Try to keep communication between Sales rep and you to a minimum. They don't know much and will usually say anything to get you off their back.

Well, 25 gals is a lot of space. You could do mollies, swordtails, more guppies, some female bettas even, tetras or barbs. I like danios as algae eaters.

A snakehead (if you can find one), an elongatus piranha, or a wolfish should clean up your guppy problem.
