Nope, they can't hold their breath, they don't have lungs. They will continue to try to push water over their gills for oxygen.

Not that I notice. I run a water garden centre and whether it be tropical or cold water fish you can see that fish still breathe out of their gills when out of water. They can be quite resillient - we had a koi once which had jumped out of a pond and had been on some decking for at least 4 hours but we managed to get her going again.

No, they do not. They just end up suffocating. They can't breath the same air we do. It's just like if you stuck a human in water, we don't have the organs to process the oxygen from the water in order to breath, we'd also suffocate and die.

...No, fish don't breath,as such.....They take oxygen from the water...so when they are out of water...they slowly die......Good Question.....

I dunno lol but my guppy just popped out about 40 babys :D lol IM SO HAPPY hehe you see i breed guppys and they go at a quid each so am goood lol
