I dont have too much algae or any algae bloom, but there plenty of leaves on my plants that get covered with algae looking like hair...greenish-brownish...I cut the leaves but it takes so long and the algae always come back. I tried to reduce the lighting hours, but still didnt really help. Would any chemical short this out? I have a few algae eaters (shrimps, kissing gouramies, plecostomus) but they cant eat everything....Its mainly the plants which get covered. Any tips?
Also, which kind of shrimp would you suggest besides the yamamoto ones?

I have had 4 dragon fish in my tank and cannot seem to keep them alive. They either die soon after I get them, or they get fin rot and die slowly. No other fish in the tank will get the fin rot, so I'm confused?

On Saturday I got a zebra loach. It was in the tank that day. Sunday, I didn't see it. And it's now Wednesday and I still haven't seen it. I called the store and they said that they sometimes hide for a couple days, but it's been a few. So I'm just wondering if it would be normal for it to still be hiding. I moved around the rocks some the first day looking for it. Then took out the rocks that weren't necessary. I'm worried that I buried it under a rock and killed it.
So, I was just wondering if anyone else has experiences with a zebra loach disappearing for several days.

We recently added two large silver sharks to our tank to replace Nemo and Bruce who recently went belly up. They are the largest fish in the tank but they are scared of everything and we can hear them flapping out the water when the light is off. we also have a spotted gourami who is a bully, two indian gouramis, three dwarf gouramis one of which is also a bully, a fighter and a cat fish. Bruce2 and Nemo2 don't seem happy and swim about like crazy fish.Whats up?

You know, like a cockapoo and such. I just think an angelfish mixed with like an algae eater would look really cool. I don't plan to try it, I'm just curious.

I have recently obtained 4 Cichlids from my boyfriend's buddy who has a helluva lot of em. There are 2 males and 2 females. How many would I be able to keep in all in a 10g tank? Also, what decorations can be used; can I use any household items? His buddy would often feed them goldfish as a treat, is this healthy for them or is there something else I can substitute? My tank right now has a piece of petrified wood in the back, pebels and small rocks instead of gravel, a bubbling gargoyle, a plant in the back corners and a plant in the center. All 3 plastic. Also the largest male chases the smaller male until he hides behind the filter and won't let him go anywhere else. The larger male also seems to be semi aggressive to the other female. They are all inbred.

I am wondering if anyone knows how many I can expect, I want to take the mother out of the birthing tank since the babies found their way back up through those little slats and I don't want the mom to eat them, but I don't want to put her back in the big tank if she is going to have more. Anyone here that can help me?

I have a f. betta now, Wanda (how ironic.) She formally lived in the 1 g. for a few days, but she looked pretty bored with her surrondings. So, I moved her back into my 10 g. But, she is imcompatable with the fish in there (or so I read online...) and I really want the best life for her. I know, I know, a 1 g isnt that big. But she seems very small in it, as the tank is tall.

I want to 'rescue' one of these f.betta's from walmart, because the one I was at treats them horribly. They get a little over an inch of water. Would it be wrong for me to purchase one and keep it with the female I have now? I plan to keep them both in the 1 g, and I am moving Wanda back into it in a few days when the tank is a little better off.

Btw- I do know about raising fish. I know, it may be small for them. So dont insult me, please. I just want whats best for these fish, and surviving in a plastic cup is just not a good life. I just want your opinion on this subject... would it be wrong???
