you cannot expose puffers to ar because if they inflate themselves with air it will kill them

If you are quite gentle about moving them they will not inflate simply because they are in the air. If it does though you can hold the fish underwater with it's head up and gently rock it back and forth until the air escapes. It's not instant death or anything. Just don't squeeze him!

First off all what disease does your fish have that needs him to be removed to fresh water? There is no treatment that I know of that requires this method. Your puffer should not be removed. What do you think he has? A puffer does not die from inflating. They inflate to ward off preaditors and to make themselves look bigger, too big to eat. They don't die from it.

Email me directly and I will help you. DO NOT put your puffer in fresh water.

You are right, if the puffers are out of the water when the inflate, they will inhale air and die. What you do to prevent this is, be very gentle - and put them into the bag while under water, simply release them into the freshwater. I assume you already know how to perform a freshwater dip, just keep them in there for a small amount of time per dip..http://saltaquarium.about.com/od/hyposalinity/ht/ht_fwbath.htm Good luck.

I have to go with DanielleZ here. What on earth are you treating or trying to treat? DON'T remove your fish from his tank. What are the symptoms? Re post and we will try to help you.

NO puffers do not die when they inflate.

you could try netting the fish in the aquarium, putting it in a small container inside the aquarium, then filling up a big container with freshwater then submerging the small container in the big container
