If you put together a blue platy with a calico red tailed platy?

Would there be any chance that the fry would be purple or would it be more likely they would be a duller version of color of one or the other parent?

The would mostly have red areas and blue areas. Some would be blue and some red. In theory, you could then breed on of the babies with more blue back to the parent with the red and get some that start to show a purple cast. With a few years of careful breeding you could get some purple out of the mix.
