Due to the nutrients in the food being very high quality in many of the brands in fish stores, you only need to feed them once a day if they are of adult sized. You may feed them as much as they eat in 2-3 minutes. You may feed them a little bit 2 or 3 times a day. It's fun to watch fish eat isn't it? Most fish food containers specify that 2-3 feedings as much as the fishes will consume in 2-3 minutes. I recommend staying with in the alloted amount your fish will eat in 2-3 minutes once or twice a day. It's been said that fish typically digest 40% of the food in captivity like home fish aquaria (From Cichlid-Forum.com web page). In perspective you'd be eating steak every day if you were comparing the 2.

I would feed them once a day (preferably at the same time everyday in the same spot in your aqaurium) and feed them only as much as they can eat in 2-3 minutes. I know you want to be a good owner and feed them lots but that will just create a lot of excess waste which could kill them. Remember: a fish's stomach is as big as it's eye. =)

What kind of fish really doesn't matter unless you are talking about a large predator fish. I feed all of my fish twice a day. Once in the morning with flake or pellets and once in the evening with live / frozen foods.

Twice a day is good. I feed mine 12 hours apart everyday, 8:30 am and 8:30 pm.

It depends on the food actually. I recommend TetraFin Goldfish Flakes. They are high in vitamins and protein. For most fish foods, Its appropriate to feed fish once in the morning, and once at night before bed. The amount of food to feed them however, depends on the number of fish you haveand the size of the fish.
