I had two weather loaches when I started my fish tank, and one recently passed away. My local pet store has been unable to get another one in. Right now I am looking for the best place to order a weather loach from online. If anyone could send me a link, it would me most helpful.

I found a large shell in the ocean (approx 12" long and weighs about 4 pounds), with the snail still inside...Its in my backyard now, dead and frozen, but I'd like to remove it from the shell and clean the insides out come warmer weather. I hear stink may be an issue so I'd like to know how to get the entire snail out and the shell completely clean, possibly polished as well.

Thanks for your help.

My betta (that I've had for about a month) is very listless. He either sits on the bottom on his side or kind of floats on his tail - nose up. He still has a very healthy appetite and his color is still good. There is an oily film on the top of the water. I have changed his water several times and the water temp is good (it was cold one day - and I replaced about 1/2 of the water and put a lamp on him). Any ideas?

I have a 55g freshwater tank. The water took along time to clear and smelled strongly of sulfur, (rotten eggs), it is really bad. Then it faded. The ammonia was still very high so I added some chemicals to get it down. That day it began to smell bady again and by the next day the same strong rotten eggs smell was present through the whole house. I have changed the water (1/3 of it) 3 times, and most of my old fish lived but all new fish I bought died almost instantly. What else can I do. The gravel was well cleaned beforhand and I do not over feed. Thanks

I recently started a 30 gallon tropical fish tank. In it, I currently have 5 platies (and the 1 last baby (fry) that I was able to save last night before it got gobbled up), 2 blue gouramis, a very small (for now) albino african clawed frog, 3 live plants, and I am thinking about adding 1 last addition... something that will eat algae and tank debris. What is the best choice... snails, algae eaters (I forgot their scientific name), loaches, or something entirely different that I am not currenly aware of? Any recommendations (keeping in mind my current tank population) would be appreciated.

Don't ask me what kind of plants I have because I cannot remember. One is some kind of fern, one is a grassy looking plant, and the other one is hairy looking thing that the fish like to munch on and apparently it is good for them, according to the pet store.

I have a sick Beta. I think I have been over feeding him. When he goes to the top for air it's like he want's to keep on going right out of the tank. He also has spasams somtimes. This started to happen yesterday. His body is crooked but not all the time. Anyhow, I took him out of his tank and into clean water. I'm not going to feed him for a coulpe of day's as well. I was reading that Epsom Salt could possibably help. Can anyone explain to me how to treat my Beta with this, or if it will do any good? Thanks.

Like to set up an goldfish aquarium, does it work by letting the water sit a few days to get rid of the chlorine, so i don't have to buy water conditioners?

I read alot of information about Bettas online but who do I believe?

How do I know they are really knowledgeable in the subject?

I called the pet shop where I bought my 6 Bettas and I mentioned to one of the staff that the tank I bought from them was not big enough and she told me she has 27 bettas in the mini bowls which hold maybe about a cup of water and thay they are doing just fine in her house.

I told her that online they say that even though they might survive in the mini bowl they should not be in one. She said," well, mine are just fine." What source can I use , that is reputable to prove to her that they should not be in the mini bowl for long periods of time?

hey everyone. i have a 10 gallon tank and i'm wondering what kind of freshwater fish would be good for it. i want a good mix, and something that looks interesting. i had guppies and platys, which i was told are supposed to be good with each other, but they seemed to fight each other relentlessly.
i basically want a mix of visually stimulating fish that are fairly easy to care for.

I bought 6 beta fish with a 2,5 gallon tank. I didn;t know until today that I was reading about their needs that the tank is too small for the 6 which are divided in 3 section of the tank. a male and a fmale in each section.
Would it be right for me to return with the tank and ask for my money back so that I can purchase the right tank? After all doesnt the pet store have a responsibility to know what they are selling you, especially if they knew the setup of the tank and how many fish were going into it. The tank has no heater or filtration.

It is a 20gallong freshwater tank, only 2 fish at the moment, been set up for about 2 months. Yesterday I put in Algae Destroyer, Ick Clear (I believe the fish have Ick), put a new BioFilter in the pump and pH Correct (pH and Buffer is low). There are live plants in the tank. Today it is very foggy, did I go too far yesterday?

Why aren't pet stores educated on what Beta fish really need?

I had one in a tiny bowl because I didn't know any better and after a year it died and my daughter wanted another.

We went to a popular pet store and bought 6 in a 2.5 gallon tank with 2 dividers. A male and a female in each section. I thought the bigger tank would be good and the pet store staff never mentioned the tank needing a filter. So why do many pet stores still sell these fish like this?
