Being as tetras are actually expensive for the number you have to get... (I mean, come on, $1.50 for a fish like that? My local pet store sells them for about $4.95 a dozen! ^.^)

I say get six. That seems to be the most my 55gal can handle. With the 12 that I bought, I lost a bunch to my turtle(long story, but he only eats tetras, and only if there are more than six). I bought some more to fill in the spaces, and still I lost a bunch and everytime I lost a bunch it was to my turtle, and it was only until six were left...

So I would say the min. is four, but you can have six in a 10gal happily.

Neons and serpaes aren't going to school together well at all. Generally it's best to have at least 6 of a schooling fish, but more is better.

Serpae's generally like to flock with their own kind, get atleast 6 of each and all will be fine in your aquarium. Any less and the serpae's become nasty little fin nippers. Hope this helps.

No problem! They are community fish! Rule of thumb! 1 inch of fish for every 1 gallon of water. Sunkeeper
