You pleco will get used to the "smell" of the wafers, and you will be amazed at how quickly he will find the wafer. Try plopping the wafer in as close to your pleco as possible. The cucumbers are a fun treat but won't give your pleco all the nutrients needed to grow quickly.
Plecos are nocturnal, so try feeding him one wafer before you go to sleep.
My pleco, now 6 years old, finds the wafers instantly. It still amazes me. Honestly, I have never given him any cucumbers, it's not a necessity but most plecos do like the treat.
Your motherly nature is normal. Don't worry. When he gets hungry enuff he will find the food.

Well, dont feed him cucumber for one. Fish have a hard time digesting non-aquatic plants.
For two, the fish knows how to be a fish. Dont worry about him. If we were all fish, we would have died by now, but thats why FISH are fish, not humans...
So he will fine his food, dont worry. Most plecos dont even eat the alge because they realize that fish food tastes better! He is probably going to be eating some alge off the tank, whatever leftover food there is(I assume you have more fish) and at night he will be around looking for that tasty wafer.
As long as its only one wafer, it wont cloud the water. Make sure you have the proper filtration for your tank and it will stay clean. Good luck!

Don't worry. Plecos are VERY shy. We can go for days without seeing ours in our tank. Mostly he just hangs out at the back behind a rock. But he hasn't died yet, so I'm sure he's finding the wafer we drop at the front of the tank. Just drop in the algae wafers and leave them (depending on how big your tank it). Just remember not to feed him every day, because then the tank will start to grow algae.
Good luck!

Fishes when newly introduced in a tank will be actually in a sort of stress for some time. It would take a couple of days to get themselves acquaited to the tank.
If it has the urge to eat,it will find it out no matter food is floating or at the bottom.
But i wonder why u put in a piece of cucumber! no acquarium fishes would like vegetables or fruits.
Best wishes for ur fishes.

Just keep trying. He hunts food mostly by smell, so he can find it. But that's only part of the story. He has probably never been fed cucumber before and might not know it's food. He'll figure it out in a few days.

he's new, let him settle in. it may take a week or so for him to really settle, and then he'll eat. does he have bogwood to graze on? he'll probably eat late at night in the dark anyway, so put some cucumber in just before lights out in the night, he may go for a nibble then, and remove it in the morning.
how big is he? the one time i tried plecs they were babies and didn't last very long, i learnt afterwards that any plec baby under 1.5" is super fragile! if i ever get a plec again i won't get one thats under 3", just to be sure!

dont worry. fish undergo a shock when they are transported from one to another . it will take about a month, till the fish will get adapted to the tank. dont give fish food such as cucumber. Tetrabits is the best kind of food which you can provide them.
