Hi, I would absolutely love to get a tropical aquarium at a decent size (maybe 1m length and 40cm width) but my mum isn't convinced with what I tell her, I know you may say, don't put it upstairs but surely there is a mat orsomething that will spread the weight?? Anyway, she thinks it's going to pop, explode, grow algae etc.
Oh and are there any solutions if it is put by a radiator??!!??..

Are Penn Plax Pro-V Waste adsorbing crystals useful? It says that they absorb ammonia. Are they actually helpful in this respect or are they a waste of money? Anyone got any experience with this?

It appears that my fake aquarium plants are building up algae on them. I have 2 algae eaters in the 30 gallon tank. What is the safest way to clean those plants without harming my fish. Tank is stable and has been for several months now.

Needs to be cheap, easy to get, and easy to take care of.
Tank is only 10 gallons so nothing that gets too big.

There's this white film covering the bottom of the tank. It literally looks like there's a half inch of whitish fuzzy clouds that in certain spots clumps together (I thought it was a dead fish carcass). We've changed the filter and the water, it's really difficult to vacuum up and it keeps coming back. We have a thirty gallon freshwater tank with about ten fish in it. Any ideas on what it is and how to treat it? Thanks!

I recently got a 30 gal hexagon tank and I'm considering using it for a marine tank. I havent had a marine tank in 8+ years and was wondering if any one had any tips or suggestions. right now it has a penguin filter but i do have a kotobuki canister filter available. I already have 2 other tanks, a 29 and 20 but they are both fresh coldwater tanks.

seriosuly,

the old rule use to be NEVER put bettas with any other fish EVER.

but i've read on the internet about people having tanks with bettas mixed with other fish like guppies and others. a local petstore here has it's female bettas in a tank with redtail sharks and other things.

what about males? I have two guppies, a platy, a spotted cory, and a clown pleco. any chance I get a male betta in my 10 gallon tank?

what is the best filter for my 10 gallon freshwater aquarium?

i have a whisper 10 gallon power filter but it's not doing the best job. the water's almost cloudy, it's been up and running for about a month.

what are you're opinions on bio-wheel or sponge filters? or anything else?

Also has a power filter and airstone, but no heater. I do a 2.5 gallon water change every week. Not planning on adding any other fish.
