There's this white film covering the bottom of the tank. It literally looks like there's a half inch of whitish fuzzy clouds that in certain spots clumps together (I thought it was a dead fish carcass). We've changed the filter and the water, it's really difficult to vacuum up and it keeps coming back. We have a thirty gallon freshwater tank with about ten fish in it. Any ideas on what it is and how to treat it? Thanks!

That's not fish scales or calcium.
It sounds more like fungused fish food, actually. If fish food doesn't get eaten, it can develop fungus or settle in a goopy layer on top of the gravel. I would suggest that you cut back on feeding. Only feed them what they'll eat in about 30 seconds, twice a day. When you do vacuum, stir up gravel so nothing settles on it. You can also get some Malaysian Trumpet Snails to help keep the gravel clean.

I would say that is fingus growing on waste and left over food. Be very careful not to over feed the tank and that will help with the reoccurance. Vacuum the gravel very well with a gravel vacuum ( from any pet store) and remove all that you can. Do this each weekly water change and it sould clear up within a week.
