I have had 4 dragon fish in my tank and cannot seem to keep them alive. They either die soon after I get them, or they get fin rot and die slowly. No other fish in the tank will get the fin rot, so I'm confused?

Maybe because the dragon fish (Violet Goby) is really a brackish water fish. You may not have enough salt in the tank to keep them confortable and stress free. That would explain why your freshwater fish are doing well but these guys don't.

Most likely the other fish you are refering to are freshwater species and the tank parameters are fine for them. What you must realize that a dragon goby is a brackish water fish so you need to put a few tablespoons of salt per gallon for them to survive. If you are truly interested in raising dragon gobies make sure the extra salt will not harm your other fish and realize that with salt you will have extreme difficulty if you want to grow live plants.

it could be that your pet store dosent get a good supply of fish. fish are fairly delicate creatures if the tank temp gets above 90 youll probably have boiled fish. i have a 29 gallon tank and more and a while ago i accidently overfed them and all of my fish were dead in the morning they are sencitive so you might want to get them else where also take a good look at them b4 u buy them and get one that looks healthy also ask if the store has a money back policy if your fish die in a certain amount of time u might get a refund you can do more research to find out if any one else sells them aswell good luke with your dragon fish =)

I don't know what dragon fish are but I'm sure it is most likely a bad pet store. try to bye fish from "non-chain" pet stores. they generally take better care of their fish.
