Doza is correct. Place a piece of lettuce in your tank and let it sit over night. The next morning it will be coverd with snails. Simply lift the lettuce out of the tank. Repeat as needed to remove and control them.

You can also try putting a piece of lettuce in your tank, perhaps weighing it down by rubber banding it to a rock. The snails will gravitate towards the lettuce. Once you have a good number of snails on the piece of lettuce, just remove it and throw it out.

Get a few Skunk Loaches. My mom had so many baby snails in her tank she couldn't see her fish. She bought one of these guys and the snails are GONE! It eats sunken flake food now that it has no more snails to eat. I wouldn't worry too much about tank mates, but keep an eye out for nipped fins. My mom does have a neon go missing every four months or so... I found a website with more information on these fish. (And pictures to help you recognise one in your local petstore!)

If you get some loaches they will be more than delighted to eat those snails for you. They are known to devour snails. Get at least 2 of those guys. The loaches will also make a great addition to your tank as well.

Get a school of clown loaches (since they fair poorly alone) and let them treat those snails as escargot. Once the snails are gone you still have a nice school of clown loaches which are compatible with many fish.

You can squish them with your finger. Sounds brutal but it works, if that is too gross you can just get them out with a net.
