(in separate fishbowls). Well tonight, I bought a "bigger" fishbowl and decided they should meet! It started out smooth, but now he's flaring up his fins and she's circling the bowl like a "hula-hoop" (for better lack of terms). I've been talking to them, especially him, and telling him to leave her alone and be "the good boy that he is". They know my voice, I talk to them daily. Should I take her out, or is this the "courtship" ritual? URGENT REPLIES WELCOME! XOXO Moonpie

Aw man, You guys just "burst" my bubble! When I got the "female" the girl at the pet store said, "Oh, don't worry"! And advised me to put 2 females in with my male. Because that way, he would "thwart" his aggressiveness between both females. Hence, creating a "calmer" environment! I knew it was "bull"! But "tanks" guys! XOXO Moonpie

The most likely thing that will occur is that they will mate. (Possibly he will beat her up a bit 1st.) Then he will kill her. This assumes she does try to kill him, or he her. In nature they would mate, and then he'd drive her away. (Males tend the bubble nest, and defend it. Females tend to just eat the eggs.) In a tank/bowl aggression between bettas is often fatal as the loser can't just swim away.
