I have a red belly Pacu, silver dollors, and two needle nose fish that share an aquarium. Recentely I discovered my Pacu has ich.....I have tried to treat them but I cant get rid of it. I have heard that if you set your temp. up a few degrees then this helps in the treatment process. Does anyone know if there is something else I can try.....Please and Thank You :)

Got a 100L tank. Did all the chemical stuff - Nitro1 then Nitro2 -- waited 2 weeks - added 2 fish. Waited another 2 weeks - added two fish. Waited another 2 weeks - added two more fish.

Aquarium started having brown spots inside everywhere. Bacteria NOT harmful to fish - so SAID the pet store. I continued to add the chemicals they sold me. Bubbles at the top of the aquarium - never go away. Same answer from the pet store.

First guppy died yesterday - all fins gone. Another one hasn't had any fins (almost) in three weeks - but seems ok. Then, another blue fish (don't even remember the "type") died yesterday evening. Fins HORRIBLE - until yesterday it looked perfect.

I tried taking the fish back to the store - I said to "save" them since I don't know what to do. They said, "Oh no, if they are sick we won't take them."

So what the HECK do I do ????

I'm just wondering how long fish tank fish (freshwater - up to about 7 inches) can potentially last. Have you heard of fish-tank fish lasting longer than 10 years, for example?

I think my fish gets tired of water all the time and maybe he wants some coke. Can I fill his bowl with coke or maybe take him out with the net and put him in a cup of coke for a while so he can drink some?

expert help only. I am fairly experienced at keeping fish, so if you're gonna say something like "it's ick!" or any other type of uneducated guess, don't bother.

so I have 2 goldfish in a 30gallon tank in my room. they are both Ryukins. the first one I got around Christmas, and the newest one I got a few weeks ago. All the levels are perfect and I have two air stones. the largest is maybe 3in at most, and the younger one is an inch. the largest one I got because he has a deformed fin, the back one fold up over in an arch shape and hits him in the face a lot. the lady at the pet store tried to say he was just swimming funny then nearly ripped his fin off trying to show me, but it wouldn't sit normally.

Today I noticed my big one is staying at the top of the tank. this is not usual for him, he usually swims all over the place and loves chasing the snail I have in with them. he's just floatign and flipping his fins a lot. it's not swim bladder... more in added details.

Although he is still new to the 1 gallon tank, and I have done A LOT of research,I noticed his fins were splitting. water temp is 78-80 deg.. I quickly did a lot more reading and ran out and got a Stress Coat Water conditioner by API with aloe for slime coat and reduces cholorine and neutralizes chloramines, spring water, and did a 25% water change. He did eat a freeze dried blood worm, which is the only thing he ate for me since I bought him yesterday. I put an artificial plant in that reaches the top, tooksome smaller ones out along wiht a castle. He seemed really happy, blew some bubbles, fins were up, and I added a little bit more water same temperature and he still has fins out but will put them back down.
Should there be more than 2 cm of air between water line and lid?
How long will conditioner take before his fins are not split?
Can I add cond. while he is in tank.
Is it normal for the fish to hover at top?
Is it ok if nitrate and amonia levels are near 0, like .05?

Inside I have all Tropical Community classified fish. 3 black neon tetras, 2 gold male guppies, 1 feather tail guppy, 2 black mollies, 2 dwarf african frogs and 3 miniature algae eaters. Plecostumos (i think that's how it's spelled) but they start with an O. They're only suppose to get to 2 inches. My boyfriend purchased a spotted cory catfish, within 24 hours, it died. Had the water tested, everything was ok. Second spotted cory catfish died within 12 hours. Within 24 hours of the 2nd catfish, I had an algae eater die. Before dying, it kept trying to jump out of the tank. Now I have an algae eater that is floating around on his back, appears to be gasping for air, then goes bezerk and swims on his back when he chooses to not float around the tank. Any idea?? Water levels still testing normal. Filter has been replaced also.

Has anyone else had this?

My female betta has a bumb, about the size of a small wart, at the end of her body right where the tail starts. It sticks out on both sides. It's starting to eat at her tail. I treat her, and her tail gets better. But if I stop at all it starts getting worse. The bump got a little bigger, but for the most part it seems to be staying the same size.

Does anyone think it might be a tumor or something? I am very experienced with these fish, but I've never seen anything like this before. How should I deal with it?

My fish is small, only about 2" long. It is silver with a fan like tail. the tail is yellow green with black lines. The fish is a livebearer and has had a batch of babies at the end of Dec. Today she had another batch of babies. she is the only adult fish in the tank. Will she keep having babies every few months or are one of the older babies getting her pregnant?

I have a black mor coy and 2 plecosthumus' in a 10 gallon tank. i just recently got them back from an extended visit with a family member and the water quality was terrible. Also the Dmetri, the coy, had a bad case of ick and fungus, both! I treated the water for the ick, following the basic rules concerning water changes and charcoal filtration. That treatment is over and now i am doing a backup treatment for his fungus to prevent secondary infections. same rules apply with water changes and filtration. Dmetri looks tremendously better, with only a little fungus left on his pectoral fins, and the plecosthumus are very active now.
PROBLEM IS: that the water stays a bright green murky color. this changes a little bit after a water change, but does not last past 24 hours. there is not any algea growth on the glass, rocks, or filter. how do i change the color? I can't see the back of the tank!
