Fish - February 2007

HI.... i have 3 oscars fish living in a 125 gallon tank i had them for 3 days now and they wont eat... i fell love this fish and i am very worryed about them dieing.. they dont seem to big sick and are very active in the tank and seem to be very healthy and collorful but they dont eat .. my tank fully cycled and is very clean Please help

I got 2 Goldfish yesterday , I fed them last night before i went out and when i came home in the morning they were both dead. Any diea how this happened i only had them one day? :(

it looks like one of those thin pines on a pine tree.I don't have any real plants in my tank and it wasn't there yesterday.The fish suddenly looks dull and it's a goldfish.The people at the aquarium said that they would come but they never turned up.What can i do for now?
Can anyone give me some advice?please help!

Its a large female. I was treating her for some torn fins, when I noticed one of her eyes turned red. only one eye and her eye's are not normally this color. I was treating the fins with MelaFix.

THe gold fish is in a 10 gallon tank with a filter. The goldfish's tails are deteriating and he is getting red streaks around his gills. He mopes around at the bottom of the tank. This is our first time with fish, so we don't know what is wrong. We have had him about a month and no problems until now. Any help is appriciated.

I brought my first beta 5 days ago.

I got a 2.5 Gallon (10 litre tank. The tanks sold as a 15 litre, but with gravel not filling the tank to it’s brim it only holds 10) a 25watt water heater, that heated the tank to 24deg C (75degF) and fed him a variety of pellets and bloodworms.

I had all the water conditioners/agers that I use in my goldfish tank in the water. (I forget exactly what all the stuff does. But basically it’s water ager and conditioner.)

Last night he very active and was making bubble nests around the plant in his tank… this morning he was dead.

When I brought him he was sluggish (but he was in ¼ gallon, 500ml cup) and his lower fins looked a little bit damaged.

When I emptied the tank out, I noticed that the heater and thermometer where very, very slimy. Is it possible that I accidentally put to much water ager in the tank?

Is it OK to put a Beta Fish (just one) in an Aquarium with 6 Goldfish, Cory Cats, (2) and two (2) Snails. There is also 1 Sucker Fish, (I do not know how to spell the name of it, and that is what I call it)? Also IF it is OK, should I get a Male or a Female Beta? I hope you all understand what I am saying. Thanks to all in advance for your help in this.

I have 3 glo fish. They all seem to be growing normally. Then one fish developed a black spot on its side and now looks to be thinner than the other 2. It is also being picked on by the other two. I watched them "gang" up on this fish.

Could this fish have some disease or could the black spot be an injury for the other fish.

One more note, none of my other fish have developed any black markings.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I've read in many of the cichlid profiles that, "Like most large cichlids, your red bay snooks( or oscars, flowerhorns, bass, severus,etc ) will keep an eye on you. Be sure to set a good example." Now what does this mean? I m sure mine cichlids are always observing me while I m doing something in front of the tank. What does that statement signify, will our acts affect the attitude of fishes?

i have a 1.5 fishtank.. its squared and has a light and filter.. i have a red betta.. but he doesn't move... i have two medium siced plants and a colorful rock in the center... the betta doesn't do anything.. he just stays at the bottom.. he won't eat.. ive had him for a week... how should a 1.5 gallon tank be decorated.. i havetwo other bettas in other bigger tanks and they are doing great... could it be the size ofthe tank? the two other ones are in 2.5 gallons... what should i do?.. im also plannig on giving away one of my bettas to my friend she'll have it in a 5 gallon tank by itself... so im going to buy some female bettas and put them together in a 5 gallon tank.... im thinking of 5 females.. what do u think?

I have had my 25 gallon freshwater tank for 8 months,and have been doing monthly water changes(25-30%)along with removing decorations prior to, as to siphon out feces and other sediment that settles in the rocks.Everytime I have cleaned it,the water has cleared right up within a few hours.Last week,after noticing that my pad filters were turning brown and causing water to flow right over them after only 2 weeks or less of replacing them,I decided to do a "deep clean" on my tank,which I had never done before.I did everything I normally do but also took apart the filter system and scrubbed all of the algae and gunk out that was stuck inside of it,thinking this was the reason for the filters turning so quick.W/in 3 days,the tank became (white) cloudier than it ever has been.I read some of the answers to previous questions and it sounds like this is normal and I just need to do 25% changes a few times a week until it goes away,but I just want to make sure. Plz let me know what u think.Thx.

Presently I have a Green terror along with a convict & some african cichlids, so can I add a flowerhorn(small one) with my present fish, will it live peacefully with the fish I have? Or if it cant I have a 30 g tank for it.
And other question if I buy a female flowerhorn will it get the horn (hump), I really dont like the horn so what should I feed the flowerhorn to avoid that?
