Both of these fish get entirely too large for a home aquarium. It may be possible to keeop them together, but as the arowana is an endangered species and illegal to keep that becomes a moot point. Both of these fishes should be left to zoos and large public aquaria.

you'd need an enormous tropical pond with powerful filtration, have you won the lottery? if not i wouldn't attempt to keep arapaima outside of public aquaria!

silver arowana grow to 24"-40"
black arowana grow to 24"-40"
arapaima gigas grow to about 3m (yes, 3 metres). and have a reasonable gob on them too, a juvvie arowana would be a small mouthful to a well grown arapaima!

leave arapaima to public aquariums. i believe i saw a lovely one in Berlin Zoo Aquarium, a good 1.5-2m long it was!

it's possible however to keep arowana. but you still need a good 200-300 gallon wide tank for a full grow one. silver arowanas are the easiest ones to find in pet stores, they also grow the largest and the quickest. other arowanas will be more expensive as they're harder to find.

The arapaima is HUGE but you probably wouldn't see a large arapaima with a young arowana (well not for long anyway).. As large as the araipaima gets, it's mouth is not really large enough to suck in a full grown arrowana either. They've got quite small heads and mouths for such massive bodies.. I've seen them comfortably suck chicks thrown into the ponds but I don't think they'd bother with the arowanas especially if they are well-fed..

Before adding Arowana to your tank be sure to get some Geo Liquid. It will give you the exact water chemistry needed to keep these fish healthy. I placed the link below for ya. Hope this helps out :)
