..the corys...algae eaters...platys all seem fine. What happened? The regular guppies(female--no males cause I wanted a strain of pure endlers) also seem fine. I thought Endlers were tougher than that. ph is 7 ammonia/nitrites are 0...nitrates are low..temp=78..plant growth is great...partial (1/4) water change every week. HELP. I'm about to give up on Endlers.

I recently bought a large aquarium, and of course a few live plants, rocks, ect. to go along with it. And draining that huge thing every two weeks or so is gonna be a HUGE pain. Are there any filters out there that will make your tank 100% self cleaning? And what about the live plants? Will uprooting them from the gravel to clean the tank kill them or make them loose and unable to reroot themselves? Thanks! :)

My female guppy just gave birth to 4 fish 2 days ago. I see a whole bunch of egg patches around the tank. Now she is swimming upside down with her head always below her body. Can I do anything to help her?

I was recently given a goldfish, 2 little albino corys and a sucker fish. From day 1 we had problems with the sucker fish, it was behaving irratically and wouldnt eat and eventually it died. From then on i went and bought a tiny little silver fish(like a gold tetra i think!) and a calico moor. Everything seemed to be going along smoothly for a week untill the little fish started to swim irratically and its coloured stripe began to chang into a very pale purple. After a bit or research i put it down to simbladder disease and took action, fortunatly it survived so i put it back into the tank. At the same time i began to notice that the other fish began to miserable and after a few days the little fish died, followed closely, and suddenly, by the albinos. We are left with a golfish and calico moor who look poorly:( They swim in a very depressed manner, somtimes floating upside down. Could this be Ick/ich disease? I havnt noticed any spots but ive checked the water & feed & thats all fine

I have a 46 gallon bow aquarium. With Live Sand, Live Rock,Coral Chips, two peaceful clownfish, 1 six-line wrasse and some live coral. I've had this tank for 7 months now. Recently I purchased two Small Powder Blue Tangs (about 3 inches each). They have acclimitated to the tank nicely and they are eating. However one of them is very aggressive. It circles the entire tank feeding on macro algae and keeps the other tang in the corner. At all times it tries to keep the other tang in the upper right corner, where the less aggressive tang hides behind the protein skimmer. My question is how can I get these two powder tangs to get along? And will they hurt each other if in the same tank?

Lately my suckerfish has been acting weird. He gets “panicky” swims around the tank really fast, up and down side to side, and then stops all of a sudden. He freeze, kind of, floats around the tank not moving and turns a ghostly white. I thought he was dead a couple of times. After a few moments he recovers and then goes about sucking the tank.
Any ideas about what is wrong and how I can fix it?

I remember back about 5 or 6 years (or even more) ago when I saw a Popular Mechanics for Kids episode, in which Charlie explains how to make a mini ecological fish tank. Which means, you don't have to feed the fish, don't have to add oxygen filters etc. You just put inside the tank some plant which generate oxygen, some snails which eats the plant and the snails' sh*t (sorry but I can't find any other way of expression, my english is way too bad) becomes food for the fish. I don't remember the details very much. So can anyone of you guys show me how?

Is there any particular reason people keep them in small tanks? To me it seems mean. I have one in a 14ltr tank and he loves swimming but when he was in the store he was kept in a tiny container and just sat there.
