depends on the size of the tank. knifefish are nocturnal hunters, they'll eat anything that fits in their mouths.

tinfoil barbs AND knifefish have the potential to be BIG fish. the tinfoil barb at 14" and the knifefish at about 24" (can get to a metre long in the wild!). If you get both when they're roughly the same size, there should be less trouble, as long as you're planning having an enormous tank? around 200 gallons+ for a nice group of 5 or so barbs and the knifefish maybe?

Yes it's safe with a clown knifefish as long as it's the same size.

Tinfoil barbs, if they are not too small, can generally hold their own with almost any fish. I've seen them in large tanks with arapaimas, alligator gars and even full grown snakeheads. They can grow large enough to escape predation and they are generally quick enough to escape any potential attacks.
