When your guppy is ready to have her babies, her gravid spot (the dark spot close to her anus) will get darker. She also will look so fat and more square, like she's ready to explode. Also, a female close to giving birth will likely refuse to eat. They may even pace up and down the sides of the tank, or hide in plants or at the bottom. She may also point her head down when she's ready to deliver.

usually their tail will turn black in large spots or yeah they r more active-o and by the way guppies give live birth!!!

To know if they are pregnant the have a black spot under their belly.Also when they are about to give birth they are more active.
