I have 2 grommies, one loach, and a big afreican butterfly. i was wondering what type of different fish will get along with them???

it's gourami not grommies. what kind of gourami? dwarf?
what kind of loach? clown? yoyo? chain? khuli?
until we know the size of your tank we can't recommend any other fish that might go with them.
as you have an african butterfly fish that rules out any small tetras (and anything under 2") as they'll be fish food, and any fin nippers like most barbs and some tetras as the butterfly fish has long fins.

the gouramis will kill a betta
try angel fish, barbs, archer fish, plecos, firemouth cichlids, anything that is labeled semi agressive should live with yoru fish

how large is your tank? Beta? NO try a school of tetras or some gold barbs or rosy barbs, there nice additions
