when was their last water change? what size bowls are they in? if they're sitting on the bottom looking depressed my first concern would be water conditions, my second would be, what are you feeding them and do they look fat or bloated? bettas are prone to constipation. a water change and some cooked de-shelled pea may be in order.

have you bred before? it's a bit of a complex process is betta breeding. i'm going to give it a go soon when i've found my boy a matching female, have yet to find the perfect one though. (i'm breeding for his colour which is amazing! he's metallic silver)

Change the water. With a bubble nest covering the top, there won't be as much oxygen exchange in the water.
