Fish - February 2007

I have have live rock from the florida gulf coast and was wondering if I can add live rock from another global area? FOWLR tank and it has just started to cycle and I have no fish yet... thanks a million!

I've got a gold nugget plecostomus - a big investment, and I want the best for him in my aquarium. I have a large plastic ship he's been hanging to, but would driftwood be better to have for him? Or does that really matter that much as long as he's sucking on something? Did that sound really inappropriate just then? lol

I have researched the signs of pregnant fish, It/She hangs out by the heater, stays up by the top of tank, has that square looking belly, looks pregnant, seems to only eat a little and seems to be bothered by other/male fish when they go over to it/her to play/swim around her. She/it swims away from them and then returns to the heater. The temp. of the tank is between 72 and 74 degrees at all times. This just started about three days ago. Before that she/it did swim around and ate more like the other fish.

I regret not quarantine my plants and new fishes. I believe the ich (white spot) are floating around my tank. I've added my "Ocean Free" yellow medication to protect the other fishes. I intend to change 20 percent of water tommorrow. I hope the good baterial still remain in the filter to break down the ammonia and the ich will totally be remove ?
How can I ensure this 2 objectives can be achieved without using a heater to increase water temperature? Thank you

I don't have that many fish, I don't ffed them too much, I am tired of doing water exchanges every other day.

I want to increase filtration.

Any suggestions? I have a 20 GPH filter and want something larger.

He has been doing what looks like rubbing his nose up and down along the side of the tank, and now theres is a white spot there, maybe 1cm big. Can fish get itchy? Whats wrong with him?

went in to my local pet shop this morning to look at their goldfish, and what did i see but about 40 goldfish in a normal four foot tank with sucking loaches attacking them from all side, complained about it, but they did not look to concerned, it was sad, said they belonged there, ???

over christmas my tank got a bad case of ick. all my fish have since recouvered except one of my bala sharks. his fins are all stuck to his body and he looks kinda funny. he can lift them up but he only does it once in a while. does anyone know what happened to him and if there is anything I can do to fix him

I have 4 denison barbs (among other fish) in a 55 gal tank that is 4 ft long by 1 ft. I'm entertaining the idea of adding 2 pictus catfish into the mix. Are these fish comptaible? Any knowledge on the topic is greatly appreciated...

i was recently given a Betta fish as a gift for Valentines day, i have him in a one and a half, maybe two gallon vase(no plant, just the fish) i was just wondering if i could put a few snails in with him, hes in there all alone and i did have some marbles in the bottom but i wanted to see if he liked the little bit of extra room so hes all alone. and just out of couriosity, how often to Betta fish poop? ive not noticed any today and i just cleaned his vase. also, i do plan on getting a proper set up soon for him, he deserves the best. i just cant right now, he was a suprise gift at the most inopertune moment, but i love him and want the best for him, im not saying he was an unwelcome gift, just a suprise
