Now I need help with the filters. It’s a 35 gal salt water tank that was a fresh water tank not filled yet. I was told I could use a Bio wheel, but after looking into it they seem to have alot of faults, as the wheel stops turning from time to time, and if you loose power and the wheel dries out you’re screwed. I have a Aqua Pure 200 that is rated very good for all 3 types of filtering that I used on my fresh water tank that worked very well. I know the filter system in a salt water tank is somewhat different then fresh, but I was told again that the AP200 along with a powerhead would be fine for that size tank, was I informed right? To set up my tank I plan on using the sand sold in the store, and live rock, then let it cycle for a few weeks. Is that enough to get the Bio going? Or do I need to do anything else? I was also told I do not need air stones in a salt tank as I did in fresh water tank as long as I have a powerhead?

i bought a male and a female guppy at wall mart. the female got pregnant and the male died. the female had 4 babies and soon after that she died. i bought some other fish at a pet store and they are all doing very well. 3 of the 4 baby guppies are alive and they get sick all the time. one of them got sick and died. i have to keep the filter on all the time and the medacation doesnt work. they get sick at least once a month and im getting very tired of it. it doesnt spread to the other fish but i dont want to take any chances.they have white spots all over and are not very active. i just dont know what to do with them. why are they getting sick so much and why isnt it spreading to the other fish?

My betta seem to just have splitting fins. Its not fin rot I dont think because the ends of the fins just look snagged. I have taken out the sharp plastic deco and bought the cloth-like plants. I heard I can use melafix, now my question is should I use it. If I use it can I leave the carbon in the filter of his 5 gallon tank or should I take it out. Where do I store the filter? Isn't it true i shouldnt let it dry out?
