Please do not get this. The "bowl" is barely a Litre in size, and once you add in the plant and the gravel, it's much less than one litre, which is not by any means enough for a betta fish. It won't be enough room for him to swim and be healthy, and it also means the bowl is too small to be heated - and bettas like their water at 80F. And lastly, there is no top to this, and bettas are known to jump out of their tank.
Instead, try to find a small tank (like 3-5 gallons) with a smaller filter and heater for each of your bettas. They will be much happier that way.

Definately not. Spend a little extra, get a 10 gallon setup (or a 5) and get one betta. For 8 dollars... you can get a 10 gallon tank for less than 10, a filter online for like 12 dollars, an da heater for about 10, that's all you'd need. Your betta will be prettier, much happier, and it will have a greater chance to survive. With a 1/2 gallon bowl, youl'l have to change the water daily or the fish will die. Try to find a used fish tank on craigslist. I regularly see cheap, good ones listed there.

Although bettas are often kept in small bowls, in no way is it humane or safe for the betta. People will say "bettas prefer to live in small areas". They think this because in the wild, they live in rice paddies which are shallow (but huge). In reality, although they ae shallow, they are huge (like I said) so there is good "natural filtration". In a bowl, this is not possible.

Bowl are ment for food not fish, unless you can find a 5 gallon bowl that can support a filter and heater......
Bettas really should be kept in filtered, heater tanks of at least 2 gallons, anything smaller is just mean.

if you are getting 2 bettas here is a great idea -- get a standard 5 1/2 gallon tank and divide it (they sell them at petsmart where i live). you can make a divider out of plastic canvas from walmart or a craft store and cut a slit in plastic aquarium tubing and run it down the sides. you can make a cover out of the canvas too.

when you have extra money add big silk aquarium plants that are as big as will fit -- bettas like having leaves on top to anchor bubble nests and like to rest on leaves too.

then you can buy them a lid with a light -- i like lighting up my bettas -- you can see them much better in a tank with a light.
