Mine is a goldfish as well, and mine are NOT affordable or hardy! The fancier breeds are more difficult to keep than the pet store will tell you. I do not know how that rumor got started but I do know there is a lot of misinformation out there about the humble goldfish. Like they are "cold water fish that like cold water" They like it in the high 70's just like tropical fish do and suffer in cold water. The list is endless.
I love them because they are all different looking (and some bizare) and they have beautiful colors and grow large. They are friendly and can be trained to be hand fed. They are always happy to see me (put food in the tank!) And they were the first fish kept and bred in captivity. Some of the newest breeds are amazing but cost a bundle!

The Coelacanth is my favourite fish.
You've got to give it some respect for lasting so long as a species. To that fish, the dinosaurs were the new kids on the block and human haven't even been registered on it historical chart yet, having been around since 400 million years ago. And its a damn good looking fish I must say :)

Serasalmus Rhombeus. The black diamond piranha. This is a solitary skittish fish, mine is 7 inches and is still very nervous around me. he's a bit of a wuss, but when he decides it is time to eat, this becomes an amazingly efficient eating machine. This is an awsome fish. My next favourite is my Oscar (in a different tank). He is like a little puppy in a tank, he comes up to the front of the tank, wagging his little tail, and when I am feeding him, he jumps clean out of the water to get the food out of my hand. He is a brilliant fish.

Betta fish! they're low upkeep and require affordable foodstuff and a small tank. And in case you position a reflect next to them they sing his own praises and look so cool! They stay or a lengthy time period too! they're very fantastically with all their hues too! notwithstanding the in effortless words element i don't like is you cant have the in a tank with different fish o any variety because the beta fish will kill them! :,(

Freshwater Oscars! They're almost like dogs in their intelligence levels.
I was able to teach mine to jump up and knock the aquarium lid when he was wanting to be fed. He was also hand tamed and would respond by rushing up to the glass, waggling and looking me in the face whenever I'd approach. He ignored everyone else so it was obvious that he could tell people apart and bond with a person.

The betta, they have so much personality and no two are quite the same. They may not live long, but they are easy to look after and are so beautiful.
If only pet shops didn't set such a bad example of how to look after them, some pet shops are ok, but most that I have seen get it horribly wrong and give bad advice. *sigh*

I love Hammer Head Sharks. They are just so cool. They are a lot more aggressive than Great Whites. They are only really rivaled by Tiger Sharks as far as the meanest and toughest.
If we are talking fish for eating. Love Catfish YUMMY.
Oh and aquarium fish. Love Black Mollies. Love those bug eyes. My brother used to have one, it was always sucking up rocks and spitting them out. So fun to watch.
