I had two black skirted tetras in a 5 gallon tank. I have had them for almost three years now and recently one just died. I was just wondering what other fishes get along with this type of tetra? Any advice would be greatful.

I've been reading about all these requirements for saltwater quality, and I wasd wondering, could you just use water from the ocean. I have access to the Gulf of Mexico, if that makes a difference.

How would you go about dealing with a goldfish with an injured (bloddy and swollen) lip? what may have casued this? Just curios- it seems harsh just to leave it be and have it suffer.

My betta fish hasn't looked very bright and healthy latley... I got him on August 7, 2006. He was a very alert and happy betta when I got him, but now he looks very depressed. He has been hanging at the VERY BOTTOM of his fish bowl (a big 3 gallon) or at the very top (meaning i can actually see the top/back of him sticking out at the top) and would occasionally (about every minute) he would ZOOM to the top veryyy quickly for air and quickly regain at his still positon. At first I thought he was either sleeping or dead, because I literally had to stick my turkey baster inside the fish bowl and try to see if he was still alive. I even touched him with my own finger and he didn't move! He did move eventually... but I mean... is this normal??? I try to feed him, but it's really heard because he never eats anything unless it's right in front of his mouth. When he's at the bottom I have sinking his food for him to eat it. PLEASE HELP!!

the fish filtration system first pumps water out fine, then it pumps water out with a rhythm, and finally pumps out very little. the filter screen itself isn't even dirty, so is there a way to make sure it keeps on pumping water out?

...and I was wondering if it would be harmful to my little Timmy if I put marbles or polished rocks (the kind they sell in the candle aisle at Target) in his bowl, or if I am just supposed to use the designated rocks and pebbles from a pet store?

Hi. The pet stores in my area sell very small corydoras cats. As long as this line on average:

-------------------

Small cories die quickly, from what I've heard.

Can someone give me some help so I can keep them alive? Soon I'm getting a 30-55 gallon and I love cories... that's why my Yahoo nickname thingy is Corydoras Catfishy... could you give me ideas on keeping them alive?

And no stupid comments, like "flush them down the toilet".

We recently inherited some goldfish from my grandfather and one of them, white with orange fins, is FAT. We thought it was going to have babies, but my mom informed us that it had been in that condition for quite a long time. We then realized that we've never seen this fish poo. He seems to be on the brink of death now, my mom is trying to save it (they are my little brother's fish now so we want to try and save them for him), she is trying to feed it mashed up peas and vegetable oil with a dropper. What is wrong with this fish and is there a way to save him at this point?

I have two Pacu's when i bought them i was told they were vegitarians. I have a 125 gallon fish tank, in that fish tank i have the 2 pacu's, 5 black skirt tetras and 2 bottom feeder plecostamus. Over the period of a month i have lost 4 of the 5 tetras. Mom said their is no way for the plecostamus to eat them, he has no teeth and sucks on his food, but my pacu's are suppose to be vegitarian even though they are both over a foot long and could easily devour your finger much less another fish. My boyfriend is blaming it on my plecostamus and i am blaming it on his pacu's. Has anyone ever had an experience with Pacu's before? Any suggestions appreciated.
