The rocks and pebbles from any store are alright, as long as you thoroughly wash them. However, the ones at pet stores are much better for the fish. Do not put any random water plant in the bowl, unless you check with the pet store. Water hyacinth is good for some fish to hide in, but I'm not sure about that for goldfish... whatever you do, though, check with a pet store! It'll make Timmy's health more guaranteed!

I'm sure it would be fine to use the 'candle aisle target polished rocks', but why not be an excellent caregiver, go the extra mile, and grab some real ones from the pet store? I would suggest just going to a pet store and buying real ones although if this is impossible the others are fine.

That poor little fishy. I would hate to be in a fish bowl with nothing to look at in my bowl...Yes, you can but other things like marble and polished rocks in the bottom. Most of the stuff that they sell at the petstores is the same thing as that anyways, its just marked up...You might want to throw a little fake plant in the bowl also, fish love to rest on them.

You can, but there's always a chance to get poisoning from the coating on them because they're not meant to be used for that purpose. Most pet stores sell the same clear marble rocks and some pretty awesome polished rocks but polished specially for fish. the clear marble ones are slightly more expensive but then you aren't taking the chance of poisoning you fish. they usually come in small bags because they're often used for bettas. polished rocks however are often cheaper at pet stores than at places like target. I'd check out the selection at your pet store first. if you decide to use the ones form target wash them with vinegar instead of soap. soak them in vinegar for 10 mins then rinse off really well. soap if very harmful to fish and vinegar is better at cleaning off the harmful stuff.

Goldfish need a lot more space than a bowl to thrive in. As far as the rocks, I'd stick with the marbles. Some rocks can change the pH in the water. Sudden changes of pH can kill fish.
Good luck

Rocks from Target will be fine. Just make sure you wash them GOOD before you put them in there.
Rocks made for fish would be better but those will work fine.

actually its not best for the fish to put the kind from target. there is certain chemicals inside the rocks that can come out of the rocks and may harm the fish. use the rocks at the petstore. the ones from target are washed in chemicals so they keep their shine

The rocks shouldn't hurt him as long as they are cleaned, but the conditions he is being kept in will, goldfish should not be kept in bowls fancy varieties should have the minimum space of a 33g tank with a max population of 10 gallons / fish. Regular golfish grow even larger and are usually best kept in ponds or very large aquaria.
