We only plan on buying a small to medium sized bowl, nothing fancy. I don't want anything that is too hard to take care of, or with big bubble eyes, (I am not a fan of fish :) ) Any ideas?

I heard it's bad to buy 2 goldfish and now I see why. My sister bought these things and now I have them since she moved across the country. The one is more than twice the size and when I brought it to my house it started eating the other one, as I have seen it do before. I want to split them up but keep them in the same aquarium. I can't make it out to buy anything in the next couple days so how can I do this? I was thinking of putting a divider in the middle of the aquarium (10 gallon) and holding it there with these castles that are in it. What should I use or is there another way to seperate them?

In September, I bought a Delta Half Moon betta with a dark blue body & pure white fins. His fin colors have gradually changed to blue with a tinge of red. His fins have also gone from being "half moon" in shape to being long & thin, like a regular betta.

What can I do to "change him back" to what he looked like when I bought him? I keep him in a 1 gallon fish bowl at room temperature, with a plant & decorations. He is being fed a "color enhancing" food.

(Serious, helpful answers only, please.)

I have a 10-gallon freshwater aquarium with about 5 small (2") fish. I have an excellent biological filter set up (zero amonia, very low nitrate level), however, I noticed last night that my nitrite level is a little higher than it should be. What is the best way to lower it?

Have green alege in water, it's not growing on anything, it's just turning the water green. Will this go away in time? I usually do a 25% water change once a week. would doing a change twice a week help? ... there are two green cat fish, one dwarf gourami, and three bloodfin tetras in the tank. thanks, ~J~

I read in a petco care sheet for clownfish, and it says you can keep them with puffers.

It is a small tropical fish. It only grows like 2'' long. It is grayish-brown and has black "blades" on its stomach and back... they are the fins... I've always called it a lancet blade fish, but what's its real name? Can you give me a website? I want one...

Thanks

I have noticed that my beta is just sitting on the bottom of the tank and not swimming around like he normaly does but it has also started to get colder (IL)which made the weather a little bit more colder, could the reasons for his "sitting around" be because of the water being cold and if so how can I keep the right water temperature? so my betta can return to its normal self. Help please!! :(

I have a 55 gallon with goldfish. It is located in my basement, where the temperature is around 50 -55 degrees. I know goldfish like cold temperatures, but when the water gets around 50 or below, their metabolisms slow down; they think it is winter right?
If they eat while their metabolisms are slow, the can die. I've currently got a heater right now, set at about 72. Is this necessary?
