After asking which fish would be the best for my tank..I have decided on a few choices that still need to be narrowed down. I have one betta, and 2 kuhli loaches, 20 gal tank. I was thinking, zebra danio,s Black Neon Tetras, Bloodfin Tetras, 2 more kuhli loaches, which ones would be best, how many.

Zebras and Tetras are small and will school together. With your tank and if you pumping plenty of air, I would get at least 10 of the ones you like. Zebras are more prone to jumping out of the tank than the Tetras. But, a good cover, cover this. ;-)

The bloodfins would be the only ones that "might" bother the betta's long fins. The zebras and black neons will be fine. I would get 6-8 (you need at least 6 to get the schooling behavior) of each of those two (they will swim as groups) AND the 2 kuhli loaches.

Like the previous poster, if you have a good filter that pumps at least 120-160 gallons per hour (gph) you should have no problems, even with that group of fish.

Just be sure you do your regular (weekly) partial (25-30%) water changes religiously and your fish will be healthy and happy for years. Never change 100% of the water! It starts the nitrogen cycle from the beginning.....and that's not a good thing.

Kuhli's are cool, aren't they? I always have some in one or two of my tanks.

im not a fan of danios but i really like neons they look great when they swim together 20 is a good number they do die quite quick though. its best to try and get fish that swim top middle and bottom neons will swim in the middle loachs at the bottom im a big fan of clown loachs they have great personalitys and colours.

No tetras, no loaches. Maybe a cichlid. The beta will just attack the schooling fish.

Just so you know, the Betta MIGHT attack any of these, some are more aggressive than others towards other fish.
