Most all fish spend time in an energy-saving state that can be called
"rest", and we might even call their behavior "sleep", though it is probably
different than "sleep" in most land
animals. Many fish, like Bass and perch, rest on or under logs at
night. Coral reef fish active in the day, hide and rest in crevices
and cracks in the reef to avoid being eaten at night.
The resting behavior of fish is very different from their behavior the
rest of the day. Many minnows, for example, which are very active in
schools during the day, scatter and remain motionless in shallow
water at night. Many fish "rest" or "sleep" during the day and are
active at night instead, but almost all fish sleep.
There are some animals that never stop swimming, like many species of
shark, however, they HAVE to keep moving to push water through their mouths
in order to breathe, and they may still sleep while moving,
we just don't know yet

Yes, fish sleep. or as some people call it rest. They keep their eyes open though. When they sleep they float around.

I don't think so... you sleep to improve your concentration and I don't reckon fish concentrate much... they do take a rest (I was going to say a breather - ha!) at the bottom of the tank though, maybe they just relax rather than sleep. Plus they have no eyelids, so they'd have to sleep with their eyes open.

Fish will hover just above the tank bottom when asleep and lose much of their body colour. Switching the tank lights on early morning will reveal rather pale looking fish that soon colour up when fully awake and active.

When my fish Doc sleeps, he's so heavy he sinks to the bottom.
I always have to give him a nudge just to check he is still in the world of the living (He's very old - My teacher Dr. Clark gave me him before he left to become a vicar 8 years ago. Don't know just how old he really is.)

yes fish sleep but you never know because they sleep with their eyes open due to the fact that they don't have eyelids.

Though they do not close their eyes... they do "hibernate", if you will, at night. They settle at the lowest and warmest part of the pond or tank and will sit idle until it becomes bright. At night, they don't too much move around unless it is the am hours, or if an ample amount of light is available....

Yes they certainly seem to, by the way sharks also appear to sleep and contrary to popular belief don't have to keep swimming.

Yes they do sleep. You can tell when they just float in a corner or area and do not blink or move their fins.... in short... when they're just floating still. My fish's like that when she sleeps... kinda cute actually...
