Obviously you did not order them from overseas, you would have to have an importer's license.
I have picked up fish from the airport many times. As long as they are coming from somewhere within the US you will have no problems. In the winter, the shippers put heat packs in the styros and in the summer, the shippers put cold packs in the styros. Ask if you are worried about whether they will or not.
Find out what flight they will be on and what airline is bringing them. Then call that airline at the airport to find out where their cargo pickup area is located. Also ask them how long after the plane touches down before you can pick up your shipment.
Then just go to the cargo area for that airline and give them the shipping info (whoever ships them to you will give you that) and they will bring the box or boxes up to where you are so you can put them in your car.
Depending on whether they are shipped prepaid or FOB (collect) you will have to either pay the shipping charges or just leave with your fish. Simple, eh? Shipping from Florida to Ohio, by Continental Airlines, for one 17x17 box full of bagged fish, is around $35. Smaller boxes may be less. Check with shipper and/or airline.
Good luck! Have fun with it, it is a life experience!

As an individual its nearly impossible to order fish and get it delivered from overseas..!! I tried a couple of times, and though it takes about 6-12 hrs for the live cargo to get delivered, customs officials will make sure that you do not get the cargo in hand before 24 hrs, which they call quarantine process...
In most cases you will end up with a dead fish..!
In case if you have a aquarium fish importers license the process is far easier as customs processing is faster and more lenient.

I have ordered fish and plants, but never had to go to the airport. I'm thinking you ordered from a different country, right? Usually they have to send it the airport to quarantine.
What usually happens is the fish are sent to the airport. (takes about 12 hrs to actually arrive)
They quarantine it (depends, usually takes 24 hrs for fish).
other than that, i'm not sure. Sorry

Yes - you have to get the info from the seller - and then go to loading dock of airport - not passenger terminal. I used to do that for a family member who had a pet shop. Fish are bagged in water in styrofoam coolers.

my husband and I both have ordered fish (from people in this country) and had them shipped or mailed to us (overnight)
as long as they are packed correctly it's no problem except
for temperatures, don't order tropicals during the winter months
and don't order anything during the summer heat

the worst bit about picking up any animal from the airport is quaratine. my dad used to own an aqarium store and ordered fish from singapore alot.
if you don't know or trust the dealer, don't buy from him.
that's the best advice i can give about that.

intimidated by the airport? the fish or just the idea in general? order steak instead they deliver right to your door...seafood guys have always been a little 'fishy' to deal with.
