It will differ depending on where you get your water, it may already have salty properties a hydrometer will measure it exactly for you but for water in genneral without any salt already in it I would say about 1/4 cup or less per liter you don't want too much and you don't want too little you could probably be safe and go with about 1/8 cup but I would invest the $7 or so to get a cheap hydrometer to on the sure side.
