I have bred pink convicts. I used shells for my convicts and kept the bottom of the tank bare except for a few of the shell. The mother convicts lays the eggs in the shells. Both of the parents guard the eggs at all times. In a few days the eggs turn dark. When this happens you can expect babies very soon. Alli you can see of the you can see of the babies is eyes for a few days. The female will pick the eggs off the shell as the babies hatch. This is a very interesting and active fish. I have had the female jump out of the water after i feed them to remove the menace from her babies. She hit my hand my would just started me. Good luck

the parents prepare a nesting site, then the female lays the eggs with the male swimming alongside her and he fertilizes the eggs, they both guard the nest and take care of the babies
