I have a 10 month old puppy i have had him since the day he was born. He lives with his mom and dad. I came home the other day and the puppy and his dad had got into a really bad fight, it was a big mess, and sad to see. I think that it is going to keep happening so i have to get rid of him. Will he get over us? Will he be okay after living with us and his family for so long? I know I'm not going to be okay, I just want to make sure he can adapt.

What a waste of effort and although I don't condone just leaving your dog's mess, at least the rain can wash it away.
I have a dog and we always carry a bag, then put any mess in the bin. Why can't other dog owners do the same? Thank goodness I got that off my chest...

We have 2 mini Dachshunds and a Pomeranian. We recently got the girl and she's now in "heat". We've confined her as much as we can, but our other 2 are going off the wall. They've been extremely possesive and are fighting a lot. I bought some dog tablets that are supposed to keep them calm but nothing seems to help. I'm losing sleep over this. If anyone has any advice please let me know!

We got a puppy last Sunday from a well known pet chain and when I took her to the vet 2 days ago, she was diagnosed with Giardia, hookworm and conjunctivitis. None of these ailments could have possibly been contracted while in our care... we do not have any other dogs, and our cat is healthy (she went to the vet on the same day). She has to take 2 medications and revisit the vet next weekend which will end up costing me well over $100.00. Why should I have to pay for this? She wasn't cheap, so shouldn't the pet store be selling heathy animals? We are attached to her so I do not want to give her back to the pet store, but I believe they should reimburse me for her vet bills... what do you guys think?

He won't stop barking or howling and I am worried that I will be kicked out of my apartment complex. He has toys, and a bed in there and it is plenty big enough for him. Is there anyway to get him to stop the barking/howling while I am gone? Will a bark collar work? Any other advice?

You've been 'laid off' from a great job and there's no work in sight. You've exhausted all your resources and unemployment is giving you a hassle about your claim. You have the usual debts, mortgage, cars, credit cards, spouse and children to care for. You have access through a casual friend to several Maltese, a couple of Poodles, and a Yorkshire Terrier. All are intact and in fact, the girls are already in heat. They're a real steal- but they don't have papers, only minimal shots, and your acquaintence laughs when you ask about soundness testing. Do you snatch these dogs up and breed them? The holidays will be here sooner than you realize and "Designer Puppies" would be great sellers. You could probably make enough to pay the bills for a few months AND put gifts under the tree.

Do you do it?

Why or why not? As usual, thanks for the input- every opinion counts- I don't delete or report what I don't agree with...

she always used puppy pads and never really went outside much, but i have moved in with someone and they dont want the pads around so we have trained her to use to bathroom outside. she goes in the grass but at night she pees in her cage (even her bed) . i thought they would not pee where they have to lay. why does she do this. almost every night. she also only gets water at around 5 when i feed her.

I adopted a German Shepherd about 6 months ago. We've recently found out that he has arthritis, was shot in the hip at some point (bullet is still in his hip), and has "shallow" hip sockets. Our vet referred his x-ray's to a surgeon to see if he needs hip replacement. Surgery will run in the thousands ... are there any pet insurance policy's that will cover pre-existing conditions like this?

Vets.
Someone to turn to when your dog is in danger of his health. How did you find your vet and what things do you check to make that vet a good one?
Also since we all love talking about our dogs and showing them off I would like to ask you to share a funny, cute, naughty story of your dog(s).

My 7 month old Boston Terrier/Beagle mix puppy seems to be developing "wear spots" in the crook of her front legs and body (armpits if she was standing upright.) Is this a common occurrence in some types of dogs?

He is exactly 2 months old, just getting used to being alone in cemented space at the back of our house. Just this evening, I went to give him dinner but he didn't feel like eating. I also noticed that he did not run after me (not like he used to) when I give him food. He looked so lethargic and went to a corner an started making puking sounds (even though I can't see if he really puked or not because it was dark). I also noticed that his stool is kind of soft and has large quantities. This was weird because he was really active when I played with him earlier this afternoon. I even gave him a bath. Maybe because it's rainy this evening and he feels cold? I really don't know. I know he's not in top condition, but are these symptoms showing some kind of serious disease? I'm just wondering, because I can't take him to the vet until tomorrow or the next day. But if it's something serious, we might consider taking him right away.

I have had my 9 month old Maltese for a little over 2 weeks now, he has finally got used to being here and is showing his true colors...lol..he barks at everyone that comes in the house, or people outside when I take him out, or noises that sound like the door....he will continually bark at people when they come over until they leave, how can I help him stop? I have heard that he is just protecting us..I don't want to use any type of shock collar.

A couple of days ago he started to have loose stools and although he's still been running around he has been more sleepy than usual. Today he's off his food - does it sound like a common bug or should I be worried?
