We have 2 mini Dachshunds and a Pomeranian. We recently got the girl and she's now in "heat". We've confined her as much as we can, but our other 2 are going off the wall. They've been extremely possesive and are fighting a lot. I bought some dog tablets that are supposed to keep them calm but nothing seems to help. I'm losing sleep over this. If anyone has any advice please let me know!

That is something you have to put up with unless you are going to spay and neuter them.

Just wait until the males start screaming because they can not get to her. Then you will be loosing sleep.

Either the female or the males have to be removed. Have you relatives that will take the boys? Can you afford to kennel them?

"The ***** is “in heat” or “in season” during the pro-oestrus and oestrus phases of the cycle, a cycle lasting an average of three weeks"

Advice like get her spayed is not for now. You must keep her clean and smelling other than in heat. You can get panties for her and sprays. You have a difficult time ahead.

Good luck

Get the female out of the home until her heat cycle is over and get everyone fixed.
You are going the have fights when you bring in a female with unaltered males. Nothing is going to stop this and if you let it go on even fixing them may not stop it.
Never have a female in heat with more than the male she is being bred to.

There is nothing that's going to work while she's in heat. They're going to continue fighting, lift their legs all over the house, lose weight because they won't eat, howl, bark, and be a general nuisance. To make it easier on the males (until you get this female spayed), is there a friend's house they could stay at?

Are the boys neutered ? even if they are, if the female is in heat, she is letting off that scent and hormones so even castrated males will act out in this way. Just continue to keep them apart- that is part of having a multiple dog household. Can a friend keep your female for a while? or can you kennel her ?

Why don't you spay and neuter??? I understand that you just got the female, but why weren't the males neutered?? All of this could have been prevented by simple surgery.

Get them ALL "fixed". That is the only solution other than keeping them all completely separate or getting rid of one of them. Spaying/neutering is your best bet.
