Sorry, I know this isn't a question. It's just that when reading questions I have noticed that many people don't know what GSD means and I thought I would clear it up for them. :)

This is my first dog, she is a Rat Terrier, she's now a year old and super cute :)) and I dont want to add to all the homeless dogs and the dogs that have to be killed (put to sleep) just because they are unwanted or couldn't find a home in time. and yet...my dog is so perfect right now, energetic and playful and super obedient, plus really healthy. I've heard so many times that fixing a dog ruins them, and changes them and stuff. I really dont want to ruin my dog, so maybe if i kept her away from male dogs at all times? or is there an alternative to fixing your dog without ruining them?

Thanks, and sorry if i should know the answer, but again this is my very first pet :D

Such as Vitamin A, Calcium, those things. I'm going to be either feeding my doggie homemade meals, or designing my own dog food (sounds far-fetched but hey i can try). And can you list how much percent of each mineral or vitamin the dog needs from each one?
Thanks a bunch :D

My dog has great obedience--he can sit, stay, lay down, roll over, shake, high 5, play dead, fetch, come--the basics. We are working on putting a treat on his nose and then having him catch it. The only problem with it is that he is not fast enough to catch it. Can someone tell me a really easy trick to teach my dog that he could learn by Thanksgiving?

My husband and I really want a dog but with a three year old and a new baby coming in Spring we are cautious..he is very experienced with dogs and has suggested we get a grown one as puppies are just like babies. There is a 5 year old Staffordshire bull terier ***** who has been with a loving home (with kids and pets) all her life but now they are emmigrating and need to find her a good home....5 seems a bit old to me though...husband says its not old for a healthy dog...also Im wary of Staffies.....what do you think?

For me it was my Sheltie Cody. He was my buddy for thirteen years..i was 3 when my parents brought him home. i was 15 when my mother and i said good-bye to him. he was humanely euthanized after multiple trips to the vet...finally his kidney's gave out.
i loved that dog like a sibling! he always made me smile, i knew he loved me. i still get emotional thinking about him now, 15 yrs after his passing.
i think he made the biggest impact on my life because he's the one that showed me from the very beginning how wonderful dogs are, how caring and loving and loyal. because of him i think i am able to see the good in things w/a much better understanding than if i had not had the opportunity to have his friendship and love.

Why is there just so much snobbery about crossbreeds? Seriously, I don't understand it at all. Is there a valid reason, or is it just jealous pedigree breeders who think they're stealing the limelight?
I personally think that crossbreeds are a good idea; they're healthy, often very nice looking and have great temperaments. So what's wrong with them? Please tell me!
I'm considering getting a crossbreed, so I'd like some info please! :D

Thank you!!!!!

My puppy had been on advantix since she was old enough to be on it. We started having problems 2 months ago, she was very itchy and had bumps all over her. We went to the vet immediately and they said she had a flea allergy and found live fleas on her. the vet treated her twice that month with her flea medicine. The advantix and then 2 weeks later frontline. We had our condo flea treated and the carpet professionally cleaned. We stopped sending her to daycare for the time being to control the problem. We have no other dogs. She STILL had fleas. We had the house retreated and went back to the vet. Bella was put on antibiotics for her soars and prednisone for the allergy. they said to treat her every 3 weeks witht he frontline. The vet prescribed a chemical to treat the house with and we have. SHE STILL HAS FLEAS!!!! I feel so bad I don;t know what to do.

I got a Miniature Dachshund for my birthday about a month ago. And we are planning on moving into our own house this summer. But when we do get into our new house, We wanna get another dog, and my boyfriend wants a big dog. He really wants a Lab.
I was wondering, what large dog breeds get along with small breeds?
Do you think it would be alright to get the lab?? Since my Dachshund will be about a year old, and the lab would be a pup. So the large dog would grow up with the small.
