My dog has great obedience--he can sit, stay, lay down, roll over, shake, high 5, play dead, fetch, come--the basics. We are working on putting a treat on his nose and then having him catch it. The only problem with it is that he is not fast enough to catch it. Can someone tell me a really easy trick to teach my dog that he could learn by Thanksgiving?

You can teach him to crawl. Have him in a lay position, then lead him with a treat across the floor repeating the word "crawl". Another trick we showed my dog was to get into a huddle. My daughters (3 & 6) would huddle around the dog and say huddle time, put our hands in the huddle, the dog would put hers on top and we would say "go team". If she already knows the shake command, she will quickly pick up on it just like a shake.

Never label the trick until the dog starts catching on to what you want of him. Therefore, dont exlaim, "Take a bow" in the begining because that will put a label on the wrong cues.

jump is the easieiest trick to teach AND it only takes a day to learn. what you have to do is tell the dog to jump while you have a treat above the dogs head and when he/she does the trick correctly when you commanded it to you can give the treat to it. the dog will soon learn to do this trick by command without you having to give it a treat

Have him lay down then put a treat on each of his paws, and do not let him eat it until you tell him he can. My friends seem to like to watch this one for some reason.

To go back, when you say it.

To go to where you point your finger.
( Don't talk, just point ).

To Dance. Just say dance, dance, dance.
My Dog would get excited, and jump
around up on his back legs. :-)

Your Dog plays dead.
I would point at my Dog, like I had a gun
and at shoot him saying " Bang ", he would
fall down. lol

Our dog alsways barked at us to give him food, so we taught him "speak" which seems to bring a crowd all the time.
