Please, exclude my messy room .. I'm a senior in HS, working hard to graduate in May, so my room isn't really my priority! :) Also, my camera is broken, so these are phone photos, so my apologies for that, too! >_<

This would be my Zoey, a dog that literally came to our doorstep 2 years ago, and stole our hearts.

http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x88/deannahempel/Zoo.jpg

This second one, she's next to my 8 pound Shih Tzu, so I thought that would give you a small clue of how big she is. Zoey weighs 42 pounds as of last week.

We've all been wondering what she could possibly be, so I though it wouldn't hurt to ask.

You can't see in the picture, but there's a streak of white on her chest are her back toes are also white! AND YES, her ears are always like that, one up, one down. :)

What do you think?

I breed many kinds of dogs and my puppy losses are way under the average expected. My tiny teacups tend to have higher rate of loss; generally within 3-5 days after birth, one will die for no reason, even though they eat fine, momma milk is good, etc. Momma's are all free of parasites and disease. If anyone can help, would really appreciate it. Also, I give moms antibiotics 2 weeks before birth and two weeks after. They get probiotics, and Milk Aide. I keep the pups at room temp of 75 degrees, keep them covered so they don't get drafts, etc. I've researched this subject extensively. The latest thing I read was from a vet/breeder who said to leave the umbillical cord and sack attached for as long as possible before clipping it. This seemed to help a bit, but there's got to be something else that can be done. Thanks!

My schnauzer is getting spayed tommorow. I was looking over her paperwork and it talks about an optional service of optaining a blood profile for the patient prior to nurgery to ensure she is in a low risk category for recieving anesthesia. It is $50.00 extra, so I was wondering if it is needed.

It would include a complete blood count to check for anemia infection and clotting, kidney BUN levels, ALKP liver levels, glucose levels, ALT liver levels, TP/ electrolytes, and creatinine levels.

Also, post-op pain control is optional, and I was suprised at this. I plan on getting her the meds, but it is an extra $22 for that, and I was wondering if that in necessary as well. I have never been a puppy parent before, so I do not know what is necessary.

I have a chihuahua I recently got from a friend of mine, who got her from the humane society. She is a sweet little girl, perfectly healthy. I took her to the vet because she has bowed legs (Im not sure if its luxated patella, because its congenital but I guess if it can be something they can be born with this is it). She's only a year and a half, they dont cause her any pain she runs and plays and whatnot, but I remember my friend mentioned she might need surgery. The vet said that as long as her weight stays normal (She's only 5 lbs and thats cause I fed her like hell because you could see her spine) she should lead a normal life and be ok. My question is for other owners of toy breeds like chis or poms, have you had this issue? Did you just let them go on with life, or did you go for the surgery? I dont want to put her through a major surgery if its not absolutely necessary, but If its something that will help her for later I'd rather do it now. Any advice would be greatly appreciat

Should we be concerned?

I have a dog & have had 4 the past yr. I'm going 2 attend college next year & when I bought my dog I had it all worked out because I was going 2 move n w/ my dad and be able 2 keep him, but the situation with my dad whom I've never lived with be4 now, is not working out so I now have 2 schools 2 choose from. 1 is commutable 2 from my home and so I could keep my dog and just drive to school everyday. The problems w/ this option are that altho the school offers my major, it's not a great college and I will also not ever have the college experience of dorms and stuff which most people say is a must. My other option is a really good private school that's based around majors like mine & gives gr8 opportunities 4 the future. The downside is that I rly love my dog and they told me no dogs allowed, & its 4 hours from my house so its not commutable. I dont know what 2 do. Im willing 2 just live at home and go to a crappy college because my dog is my responsibility but I dont want to regret it.

Today my dog ate a whole pack of gum and I can tell his stomach's upset. He has had some slight diarrhea, and I can hear his stomach make strange gargling noises. He ate food and I gave him some yogurt to help with his digestion, but is there any human medicine I can give him for his stomach? I can't get him into a vet yet, so I'm willing to try anything.

do they just go to some rescue group or something? Same goes with the other animals, like the cats and bunnies and stuff.

First, I'd like to say my dog is OK! But here's what happened last night.

Long story short: my Rottweiler mix started gagging after we went up to bed for the night. First he threw up a chunk of sheer curtain panel, a piece of a sleeve from one of my nightgowns, and a huge mass of what appeared to be dryer lint. Then he puked up a plastic doggie poop bag (unused). For the life of me I don't know how he managed to eat these things without our knowing it unless he did it right after we went to bed for the night.

Thank God it came back up instead of getting lodged into his digestive tract or something.

Is there a reason why dogs do things like this? Is he not getting enough fiber in his diet? Is he insane? Is he just a big pig?

Our four-month-old puppy is afraid of his reflection in our black glass front stove. I have covered the stove front with aluminum foil, dull side out, for now. Is there anything I can do to condition him or will he outgrow it in time?

Thanks!
