My 13 lb mini dachshund just accidentally got ahold of a mini-Orea cookie. Mini Oreos are VERY tiny.
Should we be concerned?

Thanks everyone.
We're usually very careful, but my husband was trying to throw it to me and I missed. No comments on that, please! ;-)
Needless to say, our puppy didn't miss.

Just one? She'll be fine... you'd need to worry if is was a whole bag of Oreos or a bag of chocolates. No call for concern on that one. I have a Dachshund as well, and she's eaten her share of things she shouldn't and she's always been fine, you just need to worry if they get a lot of them.

The rule of thumb is 1 ounce of chocolate per pound can be dangerous.... so he would have needed to eat almost a pound to get into the lethal area. The thing to watch is if the dog gets a taste for chocolate he will desire more. So just try to keep the sweets away from the pup!!

Chocolate being bad for dogs is true but not entirely,,,the bigger the dog the more immune to harmful things it is, we give are dog a lil chocolate once in a while if shes been really good, now dark chocolate yes is very bad but a lil milk chocolate or oreos once in a while is fine she poops it out anyways,
Lol ur hubby must be a bad thrower....HAHAHA lol jjk srry had to do it reverse psycology hehe

No, don't be concerned, it shouldn't do anything but some diarrhea, if that.
My boyfriend's 7lb. Min Pin ate half a pound of mega M&M's, and we don't know how she got it. It was in the cabinet. She's smart! We called the emergency vet immediately.
He said, "Give her one spoonful of hydrogen peroxide OUTSIDE, and wait 10 mins."
She threw it back up, alright. This was 2 years ago, and she's very healthy. Baker's chocolate or dark chocolate is what is really poisonous to them.

my boyfriend has a dachshund and we always give him like the bottom of a chocolate ice cream cone. Chocolate wont hurt a dog unless its alot, or its a very tiny dog. in most cases that is. but I think dachshunds have a large tolerence level of it. i still wouldnt push it though. but No, the tiny oreo wont hurt.

No, he will be fine, but be sure to keep chocolate out of reach in the future.
My Min Pin ate an entire Hershey bar and she was fine. Just remember, the darker the chocolate, the more toxic it is.

Your dog will be ok. I use to feed my dog oreo ice cream all the time before i knew that big doses were bad for them. She was ok. There are other foods like onions that they shouldn't eat. There is a list at pedigree.com

Chocolate is a problem when it is dark pure chocolate. Our watered down, chocolate is not a problem unless they eat a ton of it. Most of our chocolate items are milk chocolate and never have seen a cocoa bean My poodle was a chocoholic and at a million MMs and chocolate cake donuts....before I found out it was bad for her. ooops.

I wouldn't worry too much. I'd be worry if it were a chocolate candy bar. Then you would have to take her to the E.R. She might get an upset stomach and possibly have diarrhea to cleans her system out of the sweets.
