CKCS are great dogs. A well bred CKCS should have an amazingly stable temperament. They are fairly easy to care for. They do require regular brushing to prevent them from getting tangles. Cavaliers are expensive to buy. That is because it is expensive to breed healthy ones. Check out the link and read about their health problems. http://www.ackcsc.org/health.htm
Use that same link to research a reputable breeder. Never buy a CKCS from a pet store or even out of the newspaper. These dogs are plagued with health issues. It is worth it to buy one that has been bred well.

They are great lap dogs. But they still need exercise. Their breeding is good as long it is from a good breeder and not a backyard breeder who just produce puppies for the buck. Only problems that I know of is like other spaniels; a tendency to get ear infections, but any dog with hairy, hanging ears do that. Learn to clean their ears and do it every week and you should have no problems. They are not a big dog so be sure the kids do not abuse the animal.
