About every other day my dog will be chewing on a toy or occupying himself and all of a sudden he will get really excited and start running in huge circles around our home REALLY REALLY fast for about 2 minutes- is this normal?

We feed him Canidae and only dog treats from time to time...he is a calm dog, except for these sporatic events - which might I add are HILARIOUS! Does anyone else's dog do this? If so, any ideas as to why? (He is a 1.5 year old rescued Chihuahua mix)

I have seen many answers that say "you shouldn't have a dog".
You don't have two thousand dollars in case of an emergency you shouldn't have a dog. You mean you actually have to work "gasp" you shouldn't have a dog. You mean you actually have a life (ie friends and family) you shouldn't have a dog.

The average American lives pay check to pay check and has a two income household. The average American is the biggest portion of dog owners. So if all these people that own dogs gave them up because they don't have a thousand dollars on hand and have to work, what would happen to all these dogs that had loving homes. Shelters or dead. Isn't it good enough that these people love their dogs and take the best care of them possible. Should we criticize them and make them feel guilty because they are seeking help, and tell them they shouldn't have a dog.

Some people dress their dogs just to make them look "cute" or to "humanize" them. On the other hand, certain breeds need to be protected from the cold in the winter. Which is your opinion about dog dressing.
Personally, I've never dress my maltese, but I think I might start doing so soon because it's getting too cold for a single coated dog.

Okay, so I have a 6 month old puppy. He is a collie x/mixed breed. Ever since he was much younger he has been very obedient and smart. He was sitting, staying, all the rest of it at around 3-4 months. However, he has a problem with sharing space, like laying on the same bed, or being on the couch. He was growling when I was there too, so I used to just put him off it. Yesterday he bit me simply because I was sitting on the same couch as him.

Now I know the basics. He hasn't slept on my bed in a long time, I make him sit and wait for food, I don't greet him the instant I walk in the door, and I don't hit him.

After he bit me, I am at a loss. I have seen this behavior developing for a while, and done the things they tell you to do. He is a lovely dog, and VERY submissive around most people. He has never shown aggression to anyone else.

Any help or ideas? Should I just rehome him? It is hard to trust him anymore.

My aunt loves chanel perfume, which smells great and all, but she thinks it's cute to spray it on my 9-month old maltese puppy!
I haven't noticed any real problem with it, usually when she sprays it on her, she will sneeze for a minute and then be ok.
She says Chanel matches her because she is such a prissy dog
I'm worried that it could get her sick, and besides, I wash her regularly so she doesn't smell bad!

What, in your opinion, is the biggest mistake dog owners make with their animals? Over-humanizing them? Lack of training? No breed research? I know all of these things are factors, but does one outweigh the others?

I found a flea on my dog in October. I treated her and my other two dogs with Advantix. She spends about half of her time outside and we are in the Northern Midwest (It's cold!). Could she still have fleas? I see her scratching, but I am not sure if it's flea related.

She is a year old black lab. It seems that lately every time I leave for work or school I come home to items ripped up and destroyed all over my living room floor. She always get's in trouble....I usually tell her "bad girl" in my deepest voice and this seems to scare her quite a bit. I sometimes put her in the backyard alone, but it's getting worse everyday even though she is punished. I can be gone 5 minutes sometimes and she's gone on a destroying rampage. She's a good girl when I'm home and very loving, but goes nuts when I leave. What do I do????? I'm soooooooo fed up, I'm actually considering getting rid of her and I don't want to do that, but I don't know what to do?????

I have noticed her a couple times. Anyway it started getting cold out and I brought her in and fed her. Then the next day I posted some signs and no one ever claimed her and we dont want her because she is a litle skiddish and I don't trust her very much. She still spends a lot of time in our backyard and only comes in to at and go to sleep. she has snapped at neighborkids before and bit the neighbors dog before. Will they give me a hard time if I take her to the humane society? That is pretty much the only option.

What can I do?

I have come to this conclusion over the past month. See I found these two Springer Spaniels. I tried to find their owners, Reported them to the Sherrif's office, Humane Society, got on the local radio station, ect. No one has called.

The local Humane society doesn't have a shelter so I have let the two Springers stay with me and my Labs.

Anyway, 3 days after I found them (they were found on a Friday afternoon and the radio and such are closed over the weekend) the HS called and wanted to get them spayed/neutered for adoption. I expressed that they hadn't given enough time for the owners to find them. They said they would come by and take pictures of them and put up posters all over the Valley (small towns) in hopes that someone would recognize them. So 2 weeks after finding the dogs, they sent someone by.

to be continued...

Rory, my beloved Great Dane, and Sampson, his beautiful black lab brother, have shown alarming tendencies towards atheism or at least certainly a non-Catholic belief system. I have no idea what to do about this. Are dogs mostly non religious? I have tried walking them over by my local Catholic Church, just to let them sniff at parishoners that are going to and fro. One night, out of desperation, I was going through the rosary, and they both seemed sadly disinterested. <>. It bothers me that they have not been baptized, or any of the other important sacraments. How do I get them to be more attentive to this????

I thought this would be fun. A change of pace from serious answers all the time. How well can you read a dog? Do you think my crippled dog in the picture is giving warning or does he mean business?

I know I saw this before, and dang if I can find it, but in the puppy packs to new owners, (I do not like the centers one and this has got to be special for one new owner in particular) what are some other Ideas.
I got 11 pups, (See my other questions) but one pup is very special, she is going to a friend of mine that was attacked in her home My friend went into a hospital because of this, she is having problems, another friend and I took her this morning
to keep her focused on her goal to recovery we were talking about her new baby (pup) I think this is the only thing now keeping her going, What do you think we should place in her "Puppy Kit" Other than the normal.
We have a crate coming, and like to get more ideas.
Thanks!!!!!

Im sure they are worth every penny, but I want to know if theres a way to find people who breed but dont have papers, or aren't AKC registered. I would consider adopting, but there aren't puppies very often for adoption. Im in the Cleveland Ohio area, and dont know what to do.

Anyone have any advice?
