About every other day my dog will be chewing on a toy or occupying himself and all of a sudden he will get really excited and start running in huge circles around our home REALLY REALLY fast for about 2 minutes- is this normal?

We feed him Canidae and only dog treats from time to time...he is a calm dog, except for these sporatic events - which might I add are HILARIOUS! Does anyone else's dog do this? If so, any ideas as to why? (He is a 1.5 year old rescued Chihuahua mix)

Yes-my shih-tzus do it-I agree it is hilarious. I have an antique end table I have to put my hand on when they do it because it wobbles if they cut the corner to soon. I don't have much experience with Chihuahua's but I would imagine they are some what hyper. I walk my tzu's twice a day and they still have their running around the house episodes. Absolutely hilarious. :) I don't think it has anything to do with what they are eating-just they have a lot of energy and have to release it somehow. But like I said I walk mine twice a day and they still do it.

Completely normal. I wouldn't say it's because he's bored if he does it when he's playing with a toy, I'd guess it's because he's really excited. So excited that he just can't contain himself...kind of the equivalent of a person jumping up and down and screaming when they've won the lottery.

My three dogs do this every time I come home. Isn't it nice to know they are soooo happy?

OH MY GOSH!!! Your dog is sooooo cute! Congrats on rescuing him.

My dog does this too. He will be laying around or playing and then all of the sudden.....wham! He starts running around the house, bumping into the couches, spinning in circles. I don't know why they do this, maybe to burn off some energy. It's really funny though!

Your dog is demon possessed and the Teen Sunday School Class at CBC will be praying for the mutt. Is Canidae related to canibus?

he is a georgous beast! my dogs go nuts every so often too. the pup will run all over the place, under the bed, around and around the table, chairs, couch etc then the older dogs get in on it so i guess it is just play time.

Yes, this is absolutly normal. Many dogs do this. It's something they just do. 2 of my dogs I've had do the same thing.

Haha yes, my dogs do this. One of them does it every time she comes inside from a walk, and the other does it every time the other one has something that she wants.

My dogs do this too sometimes. I call it "psycho dog". Just imagine 2 dogs 115 lbs and 140lbs doing this.
