Im sure they are worth every penny, but I want to know if theres a way to find people who breed but dont have papers, or aren't AKC registered. I would consider adopting, but there aren't puppies very often for adoption. Im in the Cleveland Ohio area, and dont know what to do.
Anyone have any advice?

Just wanted to say, thanks for the quick answers... Ive done a TON of research and definatly know what im in for if i get one. my girlfriend and i of 4 years just broke up, and we had parrots. 4 Quakers, 1 cockatoo, 1 cockatiel, and some budgies. I bought the majority of the birds, and she got to keep them all. Im now tryin to get back on my feet and save up some money. I know that bulldogs have a very expensive possabilty of vet visits, and this is something i am used to with many expensive birds. Its just that initial price of like $2000 that is hard for me to come up with. maybe my question should be "Does anyone know how i can get 2000 bucks for a new bull puppy?" haha. thanks for your help though!!!

If you get a Bulldog, no matter what you pay for it, you need to have PLENTY of money ready! They are a breed with a LOT of health problems and many owners spend a TON at the vets. I know 10 people with them and all of them have spent a pretty penny on vet care for various issues. If you cannot afford hefty vet bill, consider alonther breed.
And if you spend the $$$ getting a puppy from a really good and responsible breeder, you have a better shot at avoiding the health problems down the road. So it may all even out!!!

Here's the worst part about owning one, their average life span is 7 years. Do you know how fast that goes? If you don't have the finances to buy one then how will you afford the medical bills as he gets older, or ill. Between my 2 aging dogs I spent over $10,000 in the last 2 years on dental problems and 2 surgeries. Sure people can make the choice to not "fix" their ill animals, but that's not right. I believe if you can't afford to take care of the pet the proper way through it's life you shouldn't have the pet. This is with respect I tell you this, no harshness meant. Nothing is more sad then an animal being put down for a curable illness because the owner could not afford to help him.

If you are looking for an actual english bulldog, buy from a real breeder that follow the standards and pratices of breeding... not just some joe blow that produces dogs because they can. Real breeders have their pets tested prior to breeding, and have the litter tested when born. They ensure the pup is going to a good home with a suitable owner (this involves interviews and references). Please don't support puppy mills or back yard breeders, they just produce for the money and don't care about the health and welfare of the pets. There are lots of animals are local shelters, you may find a pup or dog there as well.... but if you can not afford a pet, don't get one at all because pets can become very expensive especially if develops health problems.

Bulldogs are extremely expensive to breed, and anyone selling them unregistered and with no papers is likely not a reputable breeder. You wouldn't want a poorly bred dog, no matter how cheap he comes. Try adoption. They may not have puppies, but petfinder has plenty of juvenile bulls in need of good homes. Or, save up some cash and buy the dog from a reputable registered breeder. Even if you don't plan on showing the dog, a well-bred dog will have less health and behavioral problems, saving you money in the long run. Plus, saving up for your pup will give you some time to research the breed and prepare for the new dog's arrival.

Yeah if you want a walking health problem! I'm not trying to be rude, but if you know anything about Bulldogs, they are EXPENSIVE to breed, and IF you can find an unregistered one, you will end up spending ten times as muchin the long run. This breed is prone to soooo many genetic as congenital problems. Also, they almost always are born by c-section, so that is part of puppy costs as well. Do your research, and go to Petfinder or AKC.com. Purebred rescues are EVERYWHERE, and that is the only way you will get a *healthy* bulldog for under $2000.00

People who breed but don't have papers, or aren't AKC registered, means they are backyard breeders. Backyard breeders breed any two dogs together, and they don't know what they are doing. They don't get health clearances on the dogs, and the puppies they produce can have health problems, behavioral problems, and more. In short, they are not worth the money -- even if they are a low price! You can end up spending thousands on a cheap dog with health problems. I'm sure this is not what you want.
Your best bet, when looking for a low-priced dog, is to go to a shelter or rescue. You can often find purebred dogs, and even dogs with papers, and they price for adoption is low. A good place to start is petfinder.org.

Honestly you can find and English bulldog for a reasonable price of you look onto any pennysaver, but they only offer it in certain states. I recently bought a full breed lab for my boyfriend and I found her on pennysaver. Full bred labs usually run for $1000+ and I found her for $300 with papers! I hope that helped. If not then save some money up! And I've heard that English bulldogs are very disobedient and difficult to train so you might want to take that into consideration as well.

If you can't afford an English Bulldog, most likely you can afford vet care on one either, medical requirements for these dogs can be extensive due to skin conditions and hip dysplasia. These dogs are very expensive due to most rarity, the fact that they only have 2-3 pups at a time, and the fact that most are born by c-section which Bulldog parent owners then make the next generations's owners' foot the bill. The expense is what's stopped us from getting one, as we'd love to have one as well! They are sweet dogs! Best of luck!

Not trying to be rude but... if you don't have the $$ to invest in a bulldog , how will you care for the dog longterm. These type of dogs cant be quite high maintenance. Maybe consider a bulldog rescue.
