Rory, my beloved Great Dane, and Sampson, his beautiful black lab brother, have shown alarming tendencies towards atheism or at least certainly a non-Catholic belief system. I have no idea what to do about this. Are dogs mostly non religious? I have tried walking them over by my local Catholic Church, just to let them sniff at parishoners that are going to and fro. One night, out of desperation, I was going through the rosary, and they both seemed sadly disinterested. <>. It bothers me that they have not been baptized, or any of the other important sacraments. How do I get them to be more attentive to this????

My miniature poodle was initially a Roman Catholic when I brought her home.

Unfortunately, in dealing with my mother (her grandmother!), she was leaning slightly towards atheism.

I was livid!

Now, this weekend, I walk in on her engaging in reform Judaic rituals.

They might become more interested in Christianity if you make a big deal out of Christmas this year and give them lots of presents.

If you're worried about them getting baptized, haven't you ever heard of "The Blessing of the Hounds"??? It's a tradition honoring Saint Hubert, at the beginning of hunting season where the church blesses the hunters, the horses, and their hounds. They all attend in formal gear. Perhaps your dogs could get in on this??

Here's some pictures of the blessing in Kentucky:

Lol!!!

Okay, I had the same problem with my boys (even though I'm not Catholic...my husband is.) First, we blessed them with holy water...but don't let them drink it! Then we placed a rosary around their necks (I know! You aren't supposed to wear it as jewelry...but we had to convert our dogs!) We knew they had realized the truth when they started to lick the crucifix at the end of the rosary...they are now Catholics. And, one of my dogs even pulls the Bible off the shelf on a daily basis.

If nothing else works...call a priest...an exorcism may be necessary.

That's the problem with you catholics... always trying to make someone believe YOUR beliefs. Always trying to convert something.

Trust me, the dog is headed to the promised land. It's you that ya gotta worry about.

Of course dogs have a soul and I believe they are spiritual on a realm that would benefit us to understand. They (luckily) don't waste time and devotion segregating themselves into different belief systems and trying to convert others.

Don't worry about it, Rory and Sampson are already saved. After all, dog is God spelled backwards. Mere coincidence?

Dogs as they are they can't be Catholics. To be a Catholic does not only mean to be able to check all items applicable in the "sacraments checklist"

Maybe you need to step it up. Beatings, torture, and threats of eternal damnation. You know, the usual Catholic conversion methods.

it is nothing that an Inquisition with all the torture in the name of the lord can't cure
