It's just a comfortable position to your dog. Mine does it too. She sleeps on her back half the time. It always makes me laugh because she is spread-eagle, letting it all hang out, and totally happy.

It really means nothing -- other than your dog is comfortable that way.

It means he's totally secure in his surroundings and doesn't feel the need to be in a protective position. He could also be wanting a belly rub. Both my dogs prefer to sleep on their backs. It's the cutest thing!

all dogs do it is a sign of them feeling safe and comfortable be happy some peoples dogs never feel that comfortable also your dog is saying you are the boss and is being generally submissive

hey if it feels good ...they do it. Like rubbing their back on the furniture when they got an itch. Or licking your face all over because they love you. or chasing the cat up a tree

my youngest mut dog does that..she also stretches her back legs then smacks down on the floor spread eagle!lol

Mine does also. I think he just likes to be streached out sometimes. I think it means he feels safe.
