Anyone around the Terre Haute area giving away free puppies or cheap puppies? Please don't answer if you are going to be mean and stupid because it is a waste of my time. I am being serious, not meaning to sound mean just I tend to get a lot of people around...Well hope to hear from a hopeful soon!

I agree that you should definitely go to an animal shelter. Is it a Christmas Present for someone? :-) Either way, an animal shelter is a gr8 choice because there are many options, you get to see the dog right then, and you're giving a dog a life so its a gr8 feeling.

Go to the animal shelter because if people are giving away puppies, then there might be something wrong with that dog and that just means that you are now responsible for that dog and its health. If you buy dogs from a store, they don't tell you the health shots and stuff the dog has had and background information because most likely, it came from a bad breeder. the animal shelter gives you all the background information that you will need to know and more. Like when the dog was born and if it's potty-trained or not. Good Luck.

You could always try your local animal shelter. They aren't free there, but they aren't expensive either. Chances are you will go there and fall in love with one!! =] There are also ads in the newspaper for free puppies on occasion.

NILIF. Nothing in life is free.
Dogs also cost about $1000 a year to maintain. Just thought you should know.
Otherwise, check your local shelter. The adoption fee is usually very small, to prevent dog-fighters or research labs from picking them up, and to cover medical expenses like vaccination, sterilisation and microchipping which you would have had to pay anyway.

The cost of the puppy is the least of your worries. Food, toys, license, vaccinations, spay/neuter, emergency medical costs... all that costs more than the dog.
If you can't afford to pay for a puppy, can you afford to take care of a puppy? Or would the puppy have to suffer if it got sick because you "couldn't afford" to take it to the vet?
