Okay, You need to get your puppy on a routine. It is best to feed a puppy three times a day. So, this was my routine for my dog when we first got her.
7:00am breakfast and out to go potty
9:00am out to go potty
11:00am out to go potty
1:00pm lunch and go potty
3:00pm out to go potty
5:00pm out to go potty
7:00pm dinner and potty
9:00pm out to go potty

Adjust that to your own schedule, but you should be taking your pup out every few hours. You will also want to get a crate. This doesn't have to be forever, but it will be Very helpful during potty training, and it will keep him safe from ingesting harmful objects while you are not home. You need a crate that is just big enough for him to comfortably stand up and turn around in. Not Too big, and not too small. You will want to read more about how to introduce your pup to the crate. Keep your pup in the crate while you are sleeping, or away from the house.

Every time your pup goes potty outside, Praise him like Crazy!! Have a mini party in the backyard for going potty outside. If he goes potty inside, but you did not actually see him do it, ignore it and clean it up. If you punish him after it happened, he will get confused, and he will not know exactly what you are punishing him for. If you actually catch him going potty in the house, interrupt him by telling him "NO!" and immediately take him outside to finish. If he finishes going potty outside, Praise him like crazy!!!

You don't need to hit him or rub his nose in anything during potty training. Just use positive reenforcement, and stay consistent. Good Luck!! This is how I potty trained my dog, and we had it done in less than 2 weeks.

First of all, when your dog starts sniffing around, it means it wants to go potty, take your dog outside (or on the potty mat, whatever it goes potty on) and wait until it goes potty. Then when it does, give it a treat. If your dog keeps going potty everywhere, consult an animal trainer, friends with dogs, and even your vet if they know some people who can help you.

Crate the dog and until the dog is reliably going outside she should have absolutely no unsupervised freedom in the house because that is when mistakes will happen. Take the dog outside after meals, playing and sleeping, if she does not go after 10 to 15 minutes return her to the crate for an additional 15 to 30 minutes and take her out again. If she still doesn't go repeat process. When she does finally go outside, wait til he is done and praise lavishly and reward with a treat.
Housebreaking will only be successful if you are dilligent in watching him and taking her out as necessary and making sure she has no chance to make a mistake.

Also you need to buy a cleaner like Nature's Miracle or Simple Solution to clean your carpets and to get the scent of urine and feces out of the carpet, the dog will not stop going in the house if the scent remains in the carpet or floor.

It take dedication on your part., and patience, and calmness.
Do not yell at him. His bladder is small. Take him out about every 30 minutes to 1 hour. He cannot hold it much longer than that. If you are going to be gone put him in a room with tile floors and put down some paper by the door.

Have a key word for going out. "lets check the back" is what we say. And out guys know to go to the back door. Put a bell down on the wall or door and each time you go out kick the bell. Later he will ring the bell to let you know he wants out. Take him to a particular spot if you want him to use that one spot. Let him wander around until he does something.

Watch him like a hovering mother and grab him, and take him out if he even thinks about going to the potty. You may need to do this for 2 weeks, but he should get the idea pretty quickly. But if you layoff and don't take him out he will NOT LEARN A THING.

DON'T YELL AT HIM, DON'T SCOLD HIM AND DO RUB HIS NOSE IN IT. Be patient the mistakes are yours not his.

If you haven't gotten a book on crate training and followed instructions for months, you have not "tried everything". Do that, have patience and repeat the same pattern with your dog every day - puppy will get trained.
I've trained dozens, just takes patience and taking the dog to the same place over and over and praising when he gets it right.

You have to be sure to neutralize, not just clean, every spot in the house that he has pooped or piddled on, or it's useless.

No you haven't.

If you really have tried everything, your dog would be housebroken.

It is as simple as this:
Ignore messes in the house.
Treat/praise/go nuts when the dog eliminates outside.
Take the dog out so often that it will not get a chance to pee or poo in the house.

DO NOT punish, hit, beat, punch, slap, tap, spray or shake a can near your dog. This simply isn't necessary. If you commit to the above, your dog will be housebroken. Keep in mind, this can take weeks, even months.

Rub their noses in it, why hasn't that myth died already. You need a crate for your pup, and a schedule for taking him out that you stick to, even overnight. There is tons of free info on house training and proper crate usage online with a quick search. You may think you have tried everything, but you may have tried everything the wrong way or given up too soon.
